This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
What You’ll Get To Do:
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug software/system applications.
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of embedded systems for safety and mission critical software.
- Collaborate with a team of software engineers in an Agile environment to meet critical milestones.
- Ensure program mandated software standards and compliance criteria are met.
- Understand and can develop in a continuous integration tool chain environment meeting technical and compliance requirements.
This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise up to 20% of the candidate's time. The candidate will be responsible for assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective team leads to address those needs. He/she will also be responsible for supporting recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
The candidate will also be responsible for leading a team of system software engineers, providing guidance, and assigning work regarding the system software architecture & requirements of GNC software to ensure alignment with system architecture.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of related experience software development experience or master’s with 6 years of experience or 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance , current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP)
- Experience with Agile principles to include Kanban, Scrum
- Experience in software development using languages such as C++, Python
- Experience with MBSE, software design & requirement management
Preferred qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
- Experience leading Software Engineering teams
- At least 1-year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
- Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with the ability to solve issues and predict potential programmatic and technical risks
- Operates independently with limited to no supervision, and the ability to establish a solid working relationship with technical staff, peers, and customers
- Able to assimilate information from multiple sources, create coherent plans and then execute those plans
- Experience with executing software development processes
- CAM certification or willingness to obtain within first 6 months
- Familiarization with DO178 and process that covers software development lifecycle
- Understands best practices required for the development of Safety Critical Software Development
