Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Supportability Engineer and/or Supportability Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals in Melbourne,FL. This position is fully onsite; remote work is not available.

The selected candidate will perform systems engineering and integration tasks associated with Product Support IPTs and represent Product Support in interactions with Design Engineering and IPT support.  Prior experience in systems engineering, system design concepts, and maintenance of avionics and/or RF systems, including communications, navigation and, digital and analog systems is required. The candidate shall have a knowledge and understanding of design practices and database tools. The candidate shall be able to analyze engineering drawings, parts lists, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and apply technical expertise to determine the optimal way to maintain the weapon system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, analyze, quantify, and influence logistics requirements to support the weapon system, including spares, support equipment, technical data, training, facilities, and personnel 

  • Interface with vehicle engineering to influence designs for supportability

  • Initiate and perform trade studies

  • Perform detailed maintenance task analysis

  • Determine overall weapon support system requirements for sustainment

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, diverse assignments and collaborative/team settings across all levels.  The candidate should be well organized, pay a great deal of attention to detail, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to present design concepts to an audience.  The Candidate must be able to work well with co-workers, other groups, and external suppliers.

Basic Qualifications (Level 2):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of experience, OR a Master’s Degree in STEM

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government have Secret clearance or higher

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications (Level 2):

  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance

  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance

  • Experience with testability, troubleshooting, fault trees and/or FMECA

  • Familiarity with GEIA-0007 and relational databases

Basic Qualifications (Level 3):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience, OR a Master’s Degree in STEM with 3 years of experience

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government have Secret clearance or higher

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret clearance

  • Experience with testability, troubleshooting, fault trees and/or FMECA

Preferred Qualifications (Level 3):

  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance

  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance

  • More than 5 years of engineering experience

  • Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-502

  • Familiarity with GEIA-0007 and relational databases

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
