Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Mission System’s Engineering and Sciences (E&S) Baltimore and Partnered Sites (BaPs) Division is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals at our Melbourne Engineering Center (MEC). The Melbourne Engineering Center (MEC) primarily supports UAV systems such as the Global Hawk, Triton, and NATO AGS. Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is a trusted provider of mission-enabling solutions for global security. This position will be in Melbourne, FL, and is a full time on-site role.
What You’ll Get to Do:
In this role, you will work within an established signal processing and data analysis organization that tackles challenging MTI, SAR, and embedded software problems. You will develop sensor system modes and advanced signal- and data-processing algorithms, taking them from initial mathematical and analytical derivation through testing and verification using both simulated and real sensor data. You will also contribute to mode design and perform statistical analysis of system performance to help deliver high-confidence, mission-ready solutions.
Conduct performance analysis of flight data from multiple radar platforms.
Develop and maintain analysis tools using languages such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, and C++.
Utilize collaboration and configuration tools including SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, and IBM ClearCase/ClearQuest.
Perform SAR imagery analysis to assess and improve system performance.
Prepare design documentation; report progress; and deliver presentations to management, colleagues, and customers.
Manage and maintain analysis-related databases.
Develop analysis approaches for a variety of scenarios, working both independently and in collaboration with team members.
This position is contingent on the successful transfer of an active U.S Government Secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience, a master’s degree with 3 years of experience, or a PhD with 1 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields; an additional 4 years may be considered in lieu of a degree.
U.S Citizenship is required.
A current/active U.S Government Secret Clearance.
Proficiency in engineering programming languages, such as LabVIEW, C++, MATLAB, and/or Python.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to develop algorithms and process data using computer-based tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related technical fields.
Active U.S Government Top Secret Clearance or higher.
Experience in performance analysis, requirements verification, simulation, validation, and algorithm development.
Familiarity with RF principles, imagery scoring, performance analysis, and radar modes such as GMTI, MMTI, and SAR.
Familiarity with scripting languages.
Experience working in a Linux environment.
Ability to travel occasionally to Northrop Grumman facilities and customer locations.
