Finning Canada is seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Advisor II to join our team in Surrey, British Columbia in a permanent, full-time capacity.Reporting to the EH&S Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation, promotion, and continuous improvement of Finning's Environment, Health & Safety Management System across our operations.
As a trusted advisor, you will partner with operational leaders, EH&S professionals, and employees to drive a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and support initiatives that reduce risk and enhance workplace health, safety, and environmental performance.

· For this position, the expected base salary range is between $75,000 and $90,000 annually with an additional performance bonus over the base salary. This range reflects our commitment to providing competitive compensation that aligns with industry standards and your qualifications.
Job Description:
What You'll Do
Safety Leadership & Communication
Provide coaching and guidance on health, safety, and environmental requirements, trends, and best practices.
Develop and deliver relevant content for safety talks, toolbox meetings, and communications.
Support the maintenance of branch safety boards and visual management standards.
Identify gaps, provide recommendations, and share key learnings, successes, and safety insights across the business.
Collaboration & Operational Support
Partner with leaders and employees to support EH&S programs, training, inspections, meetings, and communications.
Assist in the development and effectiveness of Joint Health & Safety Committees.
Participate in branch leadership meetings, providing expertise and guidance on EH&S-related matters.
Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve occupational health and safety concerns and roadblocks.
Compliance, Assurance & Continuous Improvement
Support assurance activities including inspections, hazard reporting, corrective actions, leadership walkthroughs, and audits.
Monitor compliance and provide coaching to ensure quality completion of EH&S requirements.
Participate in internal and external audits, including documentation reviews, interviews, and field observations.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support implementation of corrective actions.
Emergency Preparedness & Incident Management
Coordinate and support emergency response drills and exercises.
Review outcomes, communicate findings, and partner with operations to implement improvements.
Provide guidance throughout the incident management process, including investigations, causal analysis, and regulatory correspondence.
Analyze incident data and trends using reporting and dashboard tools to drive injury prevention and risk reduction initiatives.
Training & Program Development
Support the delivery, compliance, and effectiveness of EH&S training programs.
Contribute to the development and enhancement of EH&S programs, procedures, and training materials.
Provide feedback on EH&S management system documentation and tools.
Additional Responsibilities
Travel approximately 50% to support branches, remote sites, and field operations.
Support the use and continuous improvement of EH&S management systems, toolkits, and reporting tools.
Develop performance reports to support informed decision-making.
Assist with EH&S-related administrative activities as required.
What You'll Bring
Qualifications & Experience
5–10 years of progressive Environment, Health & Safety experience.
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline (degree, diploma, or certificate) preferred.
Experience implementing and supporting EH&S management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong understanding of occupational health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
Experience in power generation, heavy equipment repair/manufacturing/maintenance, mining, construction, or related environments is considered an asset.
Skills & Competencies
Strong coaching, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
