Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a candidate with outstanding leadership skills to fill a Department Manager 3 position for the Navigation, Intelligence & Connectivity (NIC) division in the Engineering and Sciences (E&S) organization. This is a dual role position encompassing both people leadership and direct technical performance.
This position will manage a team that may support multiple programs, projects and initiatives. The position is located specifically in the Cincinnati, OH area.
This role will focus on two primary areas of responsibility: People Leadership and Technical Performance.
Ensure team has a clear purpose and clear roles; Communicate information to employees in a timely manner to help them to be productive and engaged; Give direct feedback to people on her/his team about their performance and potential in the organization; Find and develop talent. Functional responsibilities include staffing and workload forecast, employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development. Additional responsibilities include coordinating specific staffing requirements, drafting/reviewing requisitions and performing hiring manager responsibilities, identifying rotational opportunities for employees, and performance management.
Ensure personnel within the offensive cyber engineering team are meeting technical requirements of supported programs. Team Technical Performance:
The candidate will have a technical performance role that accounts for at least 50% of their time. Technical performance responsibilities will vary based on current role.
The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills and have success as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other Engineering field with 12 years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other Engineering-related fields, OR MS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other Engineering field with 10 years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other Engineering-related fields, , OR PhD. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other Engineering field with 8 years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other Engineering-related fields,
- 8 years of proven leadership skills in functional engineering management
- 5 years’ technical manager experience.
- Experience leading multi-discipline engineering teams
- US Citizenship is required
- Active Secret clearance is required
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building a strong culture and high performing work environment
- Experience in multiple relevant technology areas, such as application software development, graphical user interface design, creation of web applications, embedded software, or software security
- An ability to showcase the company’s capabilities to existing and potential customers to support business development activities
- Proven collaboration with program managers and customer representatives to meet program objectives
- Experience with U.S. Government contracts
- Experienced in all aspects of the Engineering processes and Offensive Cyber Software development
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering technical or management specialty
