Job Summary

The Worldwide Social & Community Manager leads the team responsible for HP Gaming’s global social and community presence, ensuring the brand actively participates in gaming culture rather than simply publishing into it.

This role owns the worldwide social and community strategy, editorial calendar, community engagement model, and key community programs across platforms including Reddit, Discord, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, and emerging channels.

The manager works closely with Creative, Gaming Partnerships, Product Marketing, Customer Care, NPI teams, and Markets to turn product launches, partnerships, cultural moments, and community conversations into relevant and engaging experiences for gamers.


Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Social Strategy:

  • Manage and develop the team responsible for worldwide gaming social media and community management.

  • Set the global social and community strategy, priorities, operating model, and expectations for the team.

  • Establish clear roles and responsibilities across content publishing, community engagement, platform management, and major programs.

  • Develop the team’s capabilities and ensure strong execution across both planned campaigns and real-time community opportunities.

  • Maintain a clear understanding of gaming culture, platform behaviors, community conversations, and emerging trends to inform strategy.

Editorial & Content Management:

  • Own the worldwide social editorial calendar across Gaming brands, products, partnerships, and major cultural moments.

  • Work closely with Creative teams to develop platform-native content designed around how gaming communities actually consume and engage with content.

  • Coordinate with Product Marketing and NPI teams to translate product roadmaps and launches into compelling social and community stories.

  • Partner with the Gaming Partnerships team to integrate creators, esports players and teams, game developers, publishers, and other partners into the editorial calendar.

  • Balance planned product and campaign content with reactive, community-led, and culturally relevant storytelling.

Community Management & Engagement:

  • Establish and manage HP Gaming’s approach to community engagement, including how and when the brand responds to comments, conversations, questions, trends, and cultural moments.

  • Own the social comment workflow, including processes for escalation, approvals, response guidelines, and coordination across internal teams.

  • Partner closely with Customer Care to create clear workflows between community engagement, product questions, technical support, and customer issues.

  • Develop programs that create direct interaction between HP Gaming, its experts, partners, and the gaming community.

  • Lead community programs such as Reddit AMAs, Q&As, livestream conversations, Discord activations, community events, and other direct engagement opportunities.

  • Identify recurring community feedback, questions, sentiment, and product conversations and ensure relevant insights are shared back into the organization.

Product Launch & NPI Integration:

  • Partner with Product Marketing and NPI teams early in the launch process to build social and community plans around new products.

  • Develop launch editorial plans that connect product storytelling with creators, partnerships, community engagement, reviews, and cultural opportunities.

  • Ensure social and community teams have the information, assets, product access, and response guidance needed ahead of major launches.

  • Build processes for monitoring and responding to community reaction during key product announcements and launches.

  • Surface community feedback and sentiment to Product Marketing and other stakeholders following major announcements.

Global & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Serve as the primary worldwide social and community partner for Creative, Product Marketing, Gaming Partnerships, Customer Care, PR, NPI teams, and Markets.

  • Work with regional and local marketing teams to align worldwide priorities with locally relevant content, platforms, and community opportunities.

  • Create clear communication processes that give Markets visibility into upcoming editorial priorities, assets, partnerships, launches, and activation opportunities.

  • Enable Markets to adapt worldwide programs while maintaining overall brand strategy and consistency.

  • Coordinate with agencies and external partners supporting content development, publishing, moderation, community management, and social programs.

Measurement & Community Insights:

  • Establish KPIs and measurement frameworks for social content, community engagement, and major programs.

  • Monitor platform performance, audience growth, engagement, sentiment, and community health to continuously improve the strategy.

  • Identify social and community insights that can inform Creative, Product Marketing, Partnerships, Customer Care, and broader business decisions.

  • Develop regular reporting that focuses not only on content performance, but on what the gaming community is telling us and what the organization should do with those insights.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in social media, community management, gaming marketing, digital marketing, or related fields.

  • Experience managing employees or leading teams responsible for social, community, or digital programs.

  • Strong understanding of gaming culture and major social and community platforms, including Reddit, Discord, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and emerging platforms.

  • Demonstrated experience developing editorial calendars and managing complex social programs across multiple products, campaigns, and stakeholders.

  • Experience managing online communities and developing engagement, moderation, escalation, and customer response workflows.

  • Strong understanding of how social, creators, partnerships, product marketing, customer care, and community management work together.

  • Experience supporting major product launches and managing real-time community engagement around announcements and cultural moments.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, timelines, approvals, and stakeholders.

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally within a fast-paced, global, matrixed organization.

  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-management skills.

  • Ability to exercise strong judgment, move quickly, and adapt to rapidly changing conversations, platforms, and gaming culture.


Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 7-10 years of job-related experience or 5-7 years of management experience, preferably in direct marketing, communications, or a related field.

The pay range for this role is $105,050 to $161,800 USD annually with additional
opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United
States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related
knowledge, skills, and experience.
