Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Software Configuration Analyst - Level 5 to help develop, enforce, and maintain Software Configuration Management (SCM) processes on large-scale program in accordance with the Organization’s Standard Process and contractual requirements. The analyst will also support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), Modified-off-the-shelf (MOTS), and Government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) software products. This role will be located in Huntsville, AL

 A Software Configuration Analyst plans and evolves processes and infrastructure to execute programs which support rapid maturation and deployment of capability while sustaining a stable security posture and incorporating ongoing stakeholder feedback. Integrates SCM with development pipelines leveraging automation with test-driven development tools and continuous integration/test frameworks. Supporting the implementation of the provisioning and deployment techniques via packaging, componentizing, or Cloud distribution. Functions with agile principles to execute efficiently in an environment of continuous feedback. Ensures implementation of SCM, with Quality and Mission Assurance (QMA), utilizing automated testing with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.  

The Software CM will be responsible for tasks including, but not limited to: 

  • Design and Execute a Best in Class CM/DM Strategy – Craft a seamless configuration management and data management framework that aligns with ASI 9100 standards and each customer’s contract terms.
  • Utilize Data Management best practices to ensure control of Software and Analysis Team artifacts and program documentation.
  • Provide gap analysis of current program Configuration and Data Management (CDM) plans and procedures
  • Coordinate and generate configured builds for test and delivery. 
  • Communicate issues and risks pertaining to the CDM implementation and potential solutions. 
  • Oversight of the administration of the Software CM tools (including installation, upgrades, and maintenance). 
  • Manage Change Records End to End – create, track, and control modification records, ensuring rigorous management oversight and traceability of multiple baselines.
  • Establish and implement procedures to coordinate changes to program data and products. 
  • Interface with customer CDM team to ensure seamless execution on a USG/NG integrated program.
  • Collaborate with key program stakeholders, including Program Manager(s), Chief Engineer(s), Release Management Team(s), and Quality Assurance Team(s), to ensure the successful release of software artifacts and the creation of deployment media.
  • Synchronize Engineering Change Data – partnering with engineering, quality, operations, and data control groups across multiple contracts to implement released changes smoothly across HW and SW product lines.
  • Prioritize and manage emergency software releases, supporting the engineering team(s), ensuring timely resolution of operational deficiencies or anomalies that affect customer satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree with 12 years of relevant experience; 10 years with a Master's; 8 years with a PhD. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in and understanding of SCM principles, concepts, industry practices and standards. 
  • CDM Analyst must work in office environment, traditionally work during normal business hours, however – on occasion late shifts or on-call remote work may be requested.
  • Experience with Agile development, including CI/CD pipeline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to express technical information clearly at different organizational levels.
  • Experience with coordinating/creating configured builds for test and delivery.
  • Experience implementing document numbering schemes, revision tracking, and approval workflow processes  
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active Secret Clearance at time of application.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with SW CM branching strategies & tagging, pull requests, merges, and build versioning.
  • Ability to identify the needs to build automation, designing and implementing CI/CD solutions.
  • Experience administering centralized document repositories such as SharePoint, Confluence, or equivalent repository, including access control management.  
  • Proficiency in defining and enforcing configuration baselines for source code, libraries, build scripts, and release packages.
  • Demonstrated ability to track and record change control items (CR, MR, PR) and maintain comprehensive change control logs.
  • Understand and maintain configuration status reports, quality records, and traceability matrices for audit reviews and release gate checkpoints.

Primary Level Salary Range: $153,600.00 - $230,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
