Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Staff Electrical Power Systems Design Engineer (Level 5) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
In this role, you will lead the design and development of electrical power systems for aerospace vehicles, including wiring designs, power generation, distribution, and circuitry compliant with aerospace standards

Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Develop electrical wiring designs of functional systems including selection of aircraft-type conductors and electromechanical components such as connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, and terminal junction systems in accordance with SAE AS 50881 and commercial practices.
- Support design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion, distribution systems, and circuit protection for aerospace vehicles, including Electrical Loads Analysis, test procedures, power architecture, reports, and other related deliverables.
- Manage all aspects of system and component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system testing and verification, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in subcontractor management and act as technical liaison with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement.
- Plan and support execution of system-level testing, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct system-level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure compliance with airworthiness criteria.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 12 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience.
Must have an active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems.
Experience in supplier relationship management, including briefing, coordinating, and/or following up with suppliers.
Experience with with NX and Capital software tools, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active US Government Top Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Experience with military aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft.
Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.
