A Day in the Life

A Senior Principal Data Scientist to own and oversee the creation of new data pipelines and methods for devices within the CSI portfolio, and to design and oversee AI adoption and the development of new AI tools and methodologies.

         

         

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Develops software algorithms to structure, analyze and leverage data in product and systems applications in both structured and unstructured environments.
• Develops and communicates descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive insights/algorithms.
• Uses machine language and statistical modeling techniques such as decision trees, logistic regression, Bayesian analysis and others to develop and evaluate algorithms to improve product/system performance, quality, data management and accuracy.
• Coding in Python, leveraging the data science and data engineering software stack, SQL, and cloud resource management.
• Writing clear and concise documentation for any new methods or processes.
• Writing high-quality tests to ensure the reliability and correctness or new code or methods.
• Applies deep learning technologies to give computers the capability to visualize, learn and respond to complex situations.
• Can own the end-to-end development of new Data Science processes, including developing architecture, design of data pipelines, development of data models and other data enrichments, and presentation and communication of insights.
• Can work with large scale computing frameworks, data analysis systems and modeling environments.

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or another related technical engineering degree
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering/ data science OR Master's degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering/ data science OR PhD with 6 years experience.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$185,600.00 - $278,400.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
