Who We Are

Robert Half is seeking a Solutions Architect II to provide infrastructure, application, or SaaS platform architectural / solution support to project-based efforts for relevant technical areas in our Microsoft Azure and M365 spaces, with the ultimate goals of increasing effectiveness, efficiency, and the success rate for these activities.
 

The Solutions Architect II is responsible for designing, documenting, and governing technology solutions that enable business capabilities through Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and emerging AI technologies. This role partners with business stakeholders, project teams, engineering teams, and technical leadership to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and supportable enterprise solutions.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise across Azure cloud services, Microsoft 365 platforms, and AI-enabled technologies, including Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI Services, and enterprise automation capabilities. The Solutions Architect II serves as the technical owner for medium-complexity initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and strategic technology roadmaps.

What You'll Do

Solution Architecture & Design

  • Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, project managers, and technical teams to understand business objectives and technical requirements.
  • Design end-to-end cloud, collaboration, productivity, and AI solutions leveraging Azure and Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Develop architecture diagrams, technical standards, solution designs, implementation plans, and operational support models.
  • Provide architectural leadership throughout the project lifecycle from concept through deployment and operational transition.
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, security standards, governance requirements, and operational best practices.
  • Evaluate solution tradeoffs involving performance, scalability, security, cost optimization, and business value.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and provide guidance to engineering and delivery teams.
  • Maintain ownership of architecture deliverables throughout project execution.

Cloud & Microsoft Platform Architecture

  • Design and govern Azure landing zones, subscription strategies, identity architectures, and cloud governance models.
  • Architect Azure solutions utilizing services such as:
    • Azure Virtual Networks
    • Azure App Services
    • Azure Functions
    • Azure Storage
    • Azure SQL
    • Azure Monitor
    • Azure Key Vault
    • Azure API Management
    • Azure AI Services
  • Design hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud integration patterns where appropriate.
  • Architect identity and security solutions utilizing Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and Zero Trust principles.

Microsoft 365 Architecture

  • Design and optimize Microsoft 365 solutions including:
    • Exchange Online
    • Microsoft Teams
    • SharePoint Online
    • OneDrive
    • Power Platform
    • Microsoft Purview
    • Microsoft Defender Suite
    • Microsoft Intune
  • Develop governance and lifecycle management strategies for collaboration platforms.
  • Architect modern workplace solutions that improve employee productivity and user experience.

AI & Automation Strategy

  • Evaluate and design AI-powered business solutions leveraging:
    • Microsoft Copilot
    • Microsoft 365 Copilot
    • OpenAI ChatGPT
    • Anthropic Claude
    • Azure OpenAI
    • Azure AI Foundry
    • Azure AI Services
    • Power Platform AI capabilities
  • Identify opportunities for intelligent automation, process optimization, and knowledge management.
  • Collaborate with business teams to define responsible AI use cases and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure AI solutions comply with enterprise security, privacy, compliance, and ethical AI standards.

Standards & Innovation

  • Collaborate with other architects, engineering teams, and technical domain owners to maintain awareness of current technology standards and strategic direction.
  • Contribute to architecture standards, reference architectures, and best practices.
  • Research emerging Microsoft cloud and AI technologies and recommend opportunities for adoption.
  • Participate in technology roadmap development and architecture review boards.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to business and technical audiences.
  • Facilitate architecture workshops and design sessions.
  • Mentor engineers and technical team members on solution design approaches.
  • Build strong relationships across infrastructure, security, application development, data, and business teams.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience designing and implementing enterprise technology solutions.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working within large enterprise IT organizations.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience delivering medium-to-large scale technology projects.
  • Experience serving as a Solutions Architect, Senior Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of Azure architecture and cloud-native design principles.
  • Experience with Azure governance, networking, security, monitoring, and platform services.
  • Experience designing enterprise-scale Azure environments.
  • Experience architecting and supporting Microsoft 365 enterprise solutions.
  • Strong understanding of Teams, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Intune, and Power Platform.
  • Experience with Microsoft security and compliance capabilities.
  • Experience evaluating or implementing Microsoft AI solutions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Services, and enterprise AI governance practices.
  • Understanding of responsible AI principles and implementation considerations.
  • Expertise in solution architecture methodologies and documentation.
  • Experience with architecture governance processes and technical standards.
  • Strong understanding of security architecture, identity management, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong customer and business focus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for innovation and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to influence technical decisions without direct authority.
  • Proven ability to bridge business strategy and technology execution.
  • Working in Agile/Scrum and experience with Jira preferred.

The typical annual salary range for this position is shown below and is negotiable depending upon experience and location. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.

$109,000.00 - $165,000.00
