Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Structural/Principal Structural Engineer. This position will be located located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program.This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You Will Get To Do:

Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include NX, ANSYS, and a variety of engineering software applications.

As part of the Sentinel Support Equipment team, your technical expertise and analytical prowess will play a vital role in structural analysis. This position invites a forward-thinking professional who is eager to tackle complex challenges and deliver innovative solutions that advance the future of structural analysis for the Sentinel Program.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

This position can be filled at the Structural Engineer (T2) or Principal Structural Engineer (T3) level.

Structural Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 2 years of experience, 1 year of experience with Master's degree

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to gain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance, or currently hold an active clearance and investigation completed within the last 5 years

  • 1+ Yrs of experience performing static structural analyses and closed form calculations.

  • 1+ Yrs of experience with ABAQUS, FEMAP, or ANSYS FEA software.

  • 1+ Yrs of experience creating analysis documentation and presenting results to peers and leadership.

Principal Structural Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of experience, 3 years of experience with Master's degree, or 0 years of experience with PhD

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to gain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance, or currently hold an active clearance and investigation completed within the last 5 years

  • 1+ Yrs of experience performing static structural analyses and closed form calculations.

  • 1+ Yrs of experience with ABAQUS, FEMAP, or ANSYS FEA software.

  • 1+ Yrs of experience creating analysis documentation and presenting results to peers and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience navigating Siemens NX CAD and Teamcenter CPLM.

  • Experience supporting Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) or other missile design and deployment programs/projects.

  • Experience in fast-paced design and analysis environments.

  • Exposure to requirements development with systems engineering processes.

  • Experience performing dynamic structural analyses (modal, shock, vibration, transient loading).

  • Experience in fatigue analysis of steel and aluminum components.

  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to interface with multiple disciplines.

  • A history of independently completing tasks and on-the-fly problem solving.

  • Experience with ANSYS software.

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
