Amentum is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician – Electrical for an immediate opening to support the Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assist Team (CEMAT in Norfolk, VA.  This position will support the USS John C. Stennis CVN-74 during a Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH).  The selected candidate will diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problems on electrical equipment to include controllers, motors, 400 hertz equipment, lighting and switches systems onboard naval ships.  If have experience as an Electronics Technician or Gas Turbine Systems Technician – Electrical, this may be the position you have been looking for.

Job responsibilities:

  • The Senior Engineering Technician – Electrical will become an integral part of CEMAT-ACCIT in support of the Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) on board John C. Stennis (CVN 74).

  • The ideal Senior Engineering Technician – Electrical will have prior shipboard electrical experience.

  • The Senior Engineering Technician – Electrical will be working as part of a small cross-functional team.  When not working in their primary specialty they may be required to assist other members of the team in the performance of their work including but not limited to standing fire watch or safety watch.

  • Apply comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments.

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair shipboard electrical systems, equipment, and components, utilizing technical drawings, manuals, blueprints, and schematics to ensure compliance with naval specifications and maintain system integrity and personnel safety.

  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes.  Exact weight to be determined by the specific job assignment, but no less than 30lbs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least six (6) to eight (8) years of shipboard experience in the electrical field.

  • Must have prior experience as an Electronics Technician (ET) or Gas Turbine Systems Technician – Electrical (GSE)

  • Previous experience troubleshooting electrical equipment to include controllers, motors, 400 hertz equipment, lighting and switches systems onboard naval ships.

  • Must have experience in inspecting electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair on shipboard systems.

  • Must have the ability to read and understand technical drawings, manuals, blueprints and/or schematics to ensure compliance with naval drawings and technical manuals and to determine the location of wiring and equipment to ensure conformance to system integrity and safety of personnel and equipment.

  •  Must have experience with electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of systems on marine vessels.

  • Must be able to train sailors in troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment onboard naval vessels.

  • The position requires the ability to work onboard US Navy ships and access ship repair industrial facilities.

  • Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.

       

Compensation Details:

$27.59 - 33.50
