Shift Operations Engineer

As a Shift Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in driving manufacturing performance, output attainment, cycle time management, and operational excellence. You will serve as the central point of coordination between manufacturing operators, engineering teams, area owners, and support organizations to ensure production priorities are executed safely and efficiently.
The successful candidate will utilize data-driven decision making, line management principles, AI-enabled tools, and cross-functional collaboration to identify and resolve barriers to production, improve workflow efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing line. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical, operational, AI, and leadership skills within a fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Manufacturing Operations

  • Coordinate daily manufacturing activities to achieve output, cycle time, and quality objectives.
  • Monitor line health and identify risks impacting delivery, WIP movement, and throughput.
  • Partner with Manufacturing equipment and process teams, OI, SIC, planning, and other support Manufacturing teams to resolve production issues.

Line Management

  • Monitor production flow and bottlenecks using manufacturing systems and reporting tools.
  • Support NPI, max-out, ramp readiness, and execution activities to enable smooth product introduction and output growth.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects focused on productivity, cycle time, and quality.
  • Apply Micron-approved AI tools and AI-enabled ways of working to summarize data, identify trends, improve troubleshooting efficiency, support workflow simplification, and accelerate continuous improvement while following Micron’s AI governance, data protection, and responsible-use expectations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Basic AI proficiency or willingness to complete Micron AI learning pathways and apply approved AI tools responsibly in daily work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Semiconductor manufacturing experience through internships, co-ops, or professional experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems and production reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of statistical data analysis and process improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with production planning, capacity management, or factory operations.
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools, automation, reporting systems, or digital workflows to improve productivity, decision making, communication, or manufacturing execution.
