Multiskilled Maintenance Technician IV
Amentum is seeking a Multiskilled Technician IV to join our team in Winston Salem, NC!
M-F 7 AM – 3:30PM (1st Shift)
Hours may vary based on business demand.
Weekend hours may be scheduled to support our 24/7 operation.
Facilities Technicians are responsible for providing an intermediate level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on the equipment and systems in an industrial manufacturing plant environment. Perform all aspects of preventive and corrective maintenance on all facilities related industrial systems including, but not limited to: Water Systems, Air Systems, HVAC Systems, Chillers, Air Handlers, Building Automation Systems, etc.
Works alongside other skilled technicians. Effectively communicates with the site management team and the customer to understand requirements, solve basic to intermediate electrical and mechanical problems, and provide solutions to facilities related problems. The Facilities Technician identifies and corrects any safety-related issues and performs equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.
Responsibilities:
Work alongside the technician workforce in the following:
- Reviews service requests for repairs and maintenance, determines nature of problem, and recommends appropriate solutions.
- Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
- Coordinates work with outside contractors.
- Assures code and building standards are met.
- Performs repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains facility systems.
- Performs work based on dispatched service or daily/weekly work schedules.
- Reviews work as required to document specific needs (materials, supplies, instructions, etc).
- Assists in the movement of furniture, materials, and equipment as required.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Works with or oversees subcontractor activities as directed by supervisor or work schedule.
- Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
- Understand company policies and enforce safety regulations.
- Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tag out procedures and wearing PPE as required.
- Prepare/complete assigned tasks in conformance with applicable procedure requirements provided by the supervisor.
- Coordinates work with others in discipline group and other discipline groups on the project.
- Responsible for neatness and accuracy of work.
- May train other technicians.
- May prepare formal reports on experiments, tests, and other projects.
- Provides technical guidance and assistance to less experienced personnel.
- Perform other tasks as requested by management.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
- Five years of experience performing general maintenance repair in an industrial environment or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

- This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules as needed.
- Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
- This position may require a valid Driver’s License.

- This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends
- Must be able to be on call in case of emergency.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Requires the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
- Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
- Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
- Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
- Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
- Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
- Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
- Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
- Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
- Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Special Requirements:
- Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
- Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in industrial technology or certificate from an industrial electrical course
- Knowledge of lighting, lighting control and commercial systems
- Working knowledge of pumps and motors
- Experience troubleshooting and replacing 3 phase motors up 60hp
- Experience with circuits and wiring up to 480 V 3 Phase.
- Experience with a CMMS or Maintenance Management System (i.e. Maximo, M5K, etc.)
- Experience with a BAS (Building Automation System)
- Knowledge of Chillers, Compressors, Overhead Cranes, and Hydraulic Systems.
- Commercial HVAC operating systems
- NFPA-70E training preferred
- HVAC/R EPA Certification
