Position Overview
The Manager, Mechanical Engineering will lead a team in the successful design, development, documentation, and delivery of hardware and instrumentation projects. This role will work with cross-functional teams and various business stakeholders to devise solutions to urgent business challenges. This role will communicate with project managers and leaders at all levels of our business. This individual will be responsible for continued successful support of Mechanical/Hardware Engineering and their mission to deliver critical development at Abbott Cancer Diagnostics in a wide range of areas of the business.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
The Manager, Mechanical Engineering will lead a team in the successful design, development, documentation, and delivery of hardware and instrumentation projects. This role will work with cross-functional teams and various business stakeholders to devise solutions to urgent business challenges. This role will communicate with project managers and leaders at all levels of our business. This individual will be responsible for continued successful support of Mechanical/Hardware Engineering and their mission to deliver critical development at Abbott Cancer Diagnostics in a wide range of areas of the business.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Leads mechanical engineering activities for development projects and ensures technical execution aligns with product, quality, and business objectives.
- Manages project plans, priorities, and resource coordination to support timely delivery of design, development, documentation, and implementation work.
- Provides technical oversight for mechanical engineering designs, design reviews, and resolution of complex hardware or instrumentation issues.
- Collaborates with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to define requirements, address technical challenges, and support integrated product development efforts.
- Ensures engineering work complies with applicable quality, regulatory, and documentation requirements within a regulated environment.
- Drives continuous improvement in engineering methods, design practices, and team effectiveness to support innovation, efficiency, and reliable execution.
- Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
- Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day.
- Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
- Ability and means to travel between Exact Sciences locations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or field as outlined in the essential duties.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, including experience in mechanical or hardware engineering within a biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, or other regulated environment.
- Experience leading engineering projects or teams, with working knowledge of mechanical design tools, product development processes, and cross-functional development in a regulated setting.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

The base pay for this position is
$99,300.00 – $198,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
