Head of Asset Manager Distribution, MD - State Street Investment Management
The Head Asset Manager Distribution Team is responsible for leading the State Street Investment Managements sales effort with asset managers, ETF strategists, model portfolio providers, and single-family offices. The role is accountable for driving SSIM asset growth, expanding strategic partnerships, leading a high-performing sales team, and positioning the firm's ETF platform across the institutional investment ecosystem.
The successful candidate will develop and execute a growth strategy focused on ETF adoption, model portfolios, outsourced investment solutions, liquidity utilization, and enterprise-wide distribution opportunities. This leader will serve as a senior representative of the SSIM business with key clients, internal stakeholders, and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute the strategic plan for the SSIM Asset Manager segment.
- Drive ETF asset growth, revenue generation, and market share expansion.
- Establish priorities across asset managers, ETF strategists, model portfolio managers, and institutional investment firms.
- Build a strategy with ETF strategists to encourage early investment into newly launched SPDR ETFs.
- Partner with SSIM colleagues in product management and product development teams to shape future ETF offerings and market positioning.
Client Relationship Management
- Maintain executive-level relationships with the largest asset managers, model providers, ETF strategists, and key institutional investors.
- Lead commercial engagements with strategic partners and expansion opportunities.
- Leverage Single Family Office relationships to penetrate with SSIM solutions.
- Drive partnership discussions focused on distribution, model inclusion, investment solutions, and strategic initiatives.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, client events, and executive forums.
Sales & Distribution Leadership
- Lead a team responsible for SSIM solution distribution within the asset manager ecosystem.
- Establish sales objectives, coverage models, and performance metrics.
- Drive pipeline development and business conversion across existing and prospective clients.
- Coordinate cross-selling opportunities by leveraging the broader capabilities of the SSIM organization.
- Ensure effective execution of sales campaigns, product launches, and strategic initiatives.
Team Management
- Recruit, develop, and retain top investment and sales talent.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development for team members.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and client-centric execution.
- Establish clear goals and performance standards across the team.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with ETF Capital Markets, Product, Investments, Marketing, Operations, Client Coverage, and Trading teams.
- Coordinate strategic initiatives across business units to deliver a seamless client experience.
- Align sales priorities with enterprise objectives and growth initiatives.
- Support product launch planning and go-to-market execution.
Market Leadership & Thought Leadership
- Act as a recognized ETF industry expert internally and externally.
- Develop insights regarding ETF market structure, model portfolios, institutional adoption, and investment trends.
- Contribute to client-facing thought leadership and executive presentations.
- Present business updates and market intelligence to senior leadership.
Required Experience
- 15+ years of experience in ETFs, asset management, institutional sales, capital markets, or investment distribution.
- Demonstrated experience leading large client relationships and strategic partnerships.
- Strong understanding of ETF market structure, portfolio construction, and institutional investment management.
- Proven track record of revenue growth and asset gathering.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.

Education
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Series 7 qualified
- Series 24 financial designation preferred.

Salary Range:
$170,000 - $282,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
