OCONUS-Diego Garcia Remote Entry Level Full-time

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a General Maintenance Worker to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.

The General Maintenance Worker will coordinate maintenance and repair tasks, ensure minimal disruption to electrical services, and maintain a critical inventory of spare parts to ensure the continuous operation of electrical systems and infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities:

Coordinate all maintenance and repair activities, including system outages, in a manner that minimizes service disruption to electrical power systems.

Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance or repair work on systems, equipment, and infrastructure, ensuring systems remain operational.

Develop, maintain, and update a detailed list of critical spare parts required to keep the electrical system in continuous service, as specified in Section F.

Manage and maintain an inventory of critical spare parts, ensuring stock levels align with the operational demands and prevent system downtime.

Perform scheduled inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure the long-term reliability and operational success of electrical infrastructure and related systems.

Communicate and coordinate planned maintenance and repair schedules with stakeholders to manage expectations and avoid unnecessary disruptions.

Review and update maintenance logs, repair documentation, and inventory management system records to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

Follow safety and quality standards, ensuring that work is conducted in compliance with OSHA regulations and any applicable military or government requirements.

Assist in preparing technical reports, proposals, and updates regarding maintenance tasks, outages, and corrective actions.

Respond promptly to maintenance requests, diagnosing and resolving electrical maintenance issues to minimize downtime and impact on operations.

Collaborate with other maintenance and engineering team members to develop efficient and innovative solutions to meet workload demands.

Required Qualifications
1-3 years of relevant experience in maintenance, repair, and inspections of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment, preferably in an industrial or commercial setting.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in electrical or mechanical systems is highly desirable.
Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems, facility maintenance, and equipment operations.
Experience with inventory management, including the identification and procurement of critical spare parts needed for maintenance operations.
Effective communication and organizational skills to coordinate tasks and minimize service downtime or outages.
Proficiency in record-keeping and familiarity with maintenance logs, work order systems, or computerized maintenance management software (CMMS).
Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations regarding maintenance work on electrical power systems and other utility services.
Capability to work independently in a high-paced operational environment.
Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. 
Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.

Valid country driver’s license and passport.

Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).

Relevant technical certifications in electrical or facility maintenance, such as electrical or plumbing certification.

Experience providing maintenance services in military or government facilities.

Familiarity with NAVFAC or DoD standards for maintenance and repair of critical systems.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues independently.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements. 
 
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
