Galley Accountant
Job Description
Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Galley Accountant to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
Job Responsibilities
The Galley Accountant is responsible for managing Navy food service accounting records, ensuring compliance with Navy regulations, and maintaining accurate records both manually and using automated systems. This role requires expertise in food service records management and familiarity with Navy accounting tools and procedures. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Records Management:
Maintaining accurate and compliant Navy food service accounting records in both manual and automated formats.
Utilizing the latest version of the Food Service Management (FSM) system to prepare and manage records according to Navy Food Service standards.
Preparing and submitting reports, financial records, and returns in compliance with Navy protocols and timelines.
Reviewing and reconciling records to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable DoD and Navy guidelines.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensuring all records conform to the latest Navy food service directives and policies.
Supporting compliance audits by ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
Preparing financial summaries, reports, and returns as required by Navy food service operations.
Training and Coordination:
Applying knowledge of training completed at the Navy Records and Returns School to manage and prepare food service records.
Collaborating with other food service personnel, leadership, and auditors to ensure shared understanding of record-keeping policies and procedures.
Supporting other personnel in understanding and adhering to proper accounting record management practices.
Required Qualifications
Five (5) years of experience in food service records management.
Trained on the latest version of the Food Service Management (FSM) system.
Completion of the latest Records and Returns School training.
Expertise in preparing food service records in both manual and automated formats.
Familiarity with Navy accountability systems, food service directives, and Navy regulations.
Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple accounting tasks.
Strong attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of accounting records and compliance with Navy standards.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
Valid country driver’s license.
Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
Advanced knowledge of DoD and Navy food service accounting policies and procedures.
Experience preparing financial summaries, reports, and reconciliation for Navy food service operations.
Familiarity with Navy auditing processes and ability to facilitate audits effectively.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
