OCONUS-Diego Garcia Remote Manager Full-time

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Food Services Manager to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities

The Food Services Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of food service operations to ensure high standards of quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction in compliance with Navy food service regulations. This role focuses on operational management, staff supervision, and ensuring compliance with sanitation and accounting standards. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Operational Management

Overseeing the overall operations of the food service program, including menu planning, meal preparation, and service delivery to ensure high-quality standards.

Managing and utilizing the Navy accounting system effectively and maintaining accurate financial reporting and accounting records.

Conducting procurement and inventory control to ensure sufficient food and supply levels are maintained to meet operational demands.

Monitoring compliance with all food service directives and adhering to operational standards set forth by the U.S. Navy.

Staff Management and Training

Supervising and managing food service personnel, including hiring, training, mentoring, scheduling, and evaluating performance.

Coordinating staff training programs in food preparation, sanitation practices, and Navy food service standards to ensure compliance with regulations.

Fostering teamwork, ensuring effective collaboration, and fostering a positive work environment.

Sanitation and Compliance

Ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are meticulously followed in all food preparation, storage, and serving areas.

Maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations through consistent monitoring and operational improvements.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Navy food service management and the Navy accounting system.
One (1) year of formal education in food service preparation.
Formal training in food sanitation practices and compliance standards.
Proven ability to manage food safety and operational standards in high-volume food service environments.
Strong management and leadership skills to effectively lead a diverse team of food service workers.
Excellent organizational and time management skills to oversee daily operations and long-term planning.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.


Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.

Valid country driver’s license.

Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).

Familiarity with Navy-specific food service directives, health standards, and accounting protocols.

Previous experience managing operations for government or military dining facilities, including procurement, training, and budgeting.

Advanced knowledge of sanitation processes and food safety protocols, with certifications such as ServSafe or equivalent.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements. 
 
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
