Food Court Counter Attendant
Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Food Court Counter Attendant to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia.
Job Responsibilities
The Food Court Counter Attendant provides exceptional customer service by ensuring meal services are delivered efficiently and creating a welcoming dining environment for all patrons. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Customer Service and Cashier Duties:
Performing cashier services to ensure eligible patrons are accurately and promptly processed.
Handling cash and other payment methods in compliance with standard operating procedures.
Providing clear information about menu offerings and assisting customers with dining inquiries.
Meal Service Support:
Providing meal service at various stations, including the main line, speed line, salad bar, fruit bar, bread bar, soup bar, beverage dispensers, and ice cream stations.
Replenishing food and supplies at stations to ensure continuous availability during meal service hours.
Assisting in the portioning, serving, and presentation of all food items to maintain high-quality service standards.
Dining Area Preparation:
Setting up dining areas with appropriate equipment, tablecloths, napkins, and decorations to create a pleasant dining atmosphere for patrons.
Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the serving and dining areas throughout meal service periods.
Ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and operating as designed.
Hospitality and Atmosphere:
Creating and maintaining a welcoming and comfortable environment for patrons by presenting a clean and aesthetically pleasing dining arrangement.
Collaborating with other team members to ensure smooth and efficient food court operations.
Required Qualifications
Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in food service, cashiering, or customer service.
Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple meal stations and assignments efficiently.
Basic math skills and attention to detail for accurate cashiering and payment processes.
Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact with patrons in a courteous and professional manner.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
Valid country driver’s license.
Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
Familiarity with military or government dining facility operations.
Previous experience serving in high-volume food court or cafeteria settings.
Ability to creatively decorate and arrange dining spaces for special events to enhance the dining atmosphere.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
