Amentum is seeking a Fire Protection Technician to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia.  The Fire Protection Technician is responsible for supporting fire prevention, safety, and protection activities by adhering to established protocols and maintaining a safe environment for personnel and facilities. 

Job Responsibilities:
•    Know the locations of all fire alarms and demonstrate the ability to activate them in case of an emergency.
•    Maintain, inspect, and test fire protection systems to operate as designed.
•    Handle and store combustible supplies, materials, waste, and trash in a manner that prevents fire hazards and ensures safety for personnel and facilities.
•    Inspect storage areas and workspaces to identify and mitigate potential fire risks.
•    Inspect all facilities for adherence to all Federal, Host Nation, and B.I.O.T. fire protection standards.
•    Follow all safety guidelines and fire prevention practices to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
•    Participate in fire safety training programs to maintain knowledge of fire protection standards and response protocols.
•    Collaborate with the Fire and Emergency Services Department to identify and address potential fire safety hazards.
•    Report safety violations, fire risks, or faulty equipment to the appropriate personnel for immediate resolution.
•    Assist with workplace safety initiatives to promote fire safety awareness across the organization.
•    Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:
•    High school diploma or equivalent.
•    Must meet any of the following recognized journeyman or craftsman-level qualifications for fire protection systems:
o    NICET Level II or higher certification in Fire Alarm Systems,
o    NICET Level II certification in Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems,
o    NICET Level II or higher certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems; or
o    NICET certification in Special Hazard Suppression Systems.[KC1.1]
•    Fundamental knowledge of fire safety and prevention practices, including proper handling and storage of combustible materials.
•    Previous experience in fire safety or occupational health and safety operations, particularly in high-risk environments.
•    Proven ability to identify fire safety risks and enforce best practices for fire protection.
•    Excellent attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols to ensure a hazard-free environment.
•    Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
•    Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
•    Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
•    Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.

•    Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
•    Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
•    Valid country driver’s license.
•    Familiarity with fire protection equipment, alarm systems, and emergency response procedures.
•    Strong communication skills and experience promoting workplace fire safety awareness.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements. 
 
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
