Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.The Director of Government Affairs will report directly to the Senior Director, Office of the Secretary of War Customer Relations Team within the Northrop Grumman Corporate Global Business Development organization.
Located in Falls Church, VA, the selected candidate will be responsible for expanding and maintaining effective relations between Northrop Grumman and the Department of War, focused on organizations within the Office of the Secretary of War (including Policy, CAPE, and Comptroller) and the Joint Staff. The Director will directly engage with government officials to support Northrop Grumman policy objectives and facilitate engagements for company leaders.
Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Designing, coordinating, and executing customer engagement plans in support Northrop Grumman policy and program priorities.
Providing insights into Department of War policy, personnel, programmatic, budgetary, and legislative initiatives affecting company equities.
Orchestrating engagements with organizations within the Office of the Secretary of War with other elements of Northrop Grumman (e.g., Military Service teams) to maximize effectiveness.
Effectively representing Northrop Grumman senior leadership views and positions with senior Department of War officials.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of combined experience in U.S. Government policy and/or defense industry business development or government affairs.
Demonstrated experience working with the Department of War, including impactful relationships within the Office of the Secretary of War and Joint Staff.
Proven ability to think strategically and integrate policy, political, requirement, and budgetary considerations to inform senior U.S. Government civilian and military decision makers.
Knowledgeable of Department of War processes, including PPBE and Acquisition, and familiarity with ongoing policy reforms.
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as project management, analytical, planning, and presentation skills.
Active Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain the SCI; maintaining the required security clearance will be a condition of continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in National Security or related discipline and/or a minimum of 15 years of combined experience in U.S. Government policy and/or defense industry business development or government affairs
Executive presence to include a high level of judgement, initiative, integrity, and hands-on approach to problem solving both internal and external to the company.
A team player, self-starter, with a strong work ethic and ability to work cooperatively across the organization without significant support.
