Overview
In 1971, Yale University established Yale Health to provide health services to its facility, staff and students through a multidisciplinary health maintenance organization located on campus. Yale Health has more than 50,000 members including students, staff, faculty and their families who come from every state in the country and almost every country in the world. With over 50 years of service to the Yale community, our state-of-the-art facility at 55 Lock Street, is where our members receive most of their care from our 150+ providers. It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, an Acute Care Department, a 15-bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy

The Delivery Technician provides mail, package, courier, delivery, and general operational support for Yale Health. Receives, sorts, tracks, and distributes mail, packages, supplies, and other materials. Supports stockroom activities, conference room setups, office moves, and other Building Services functions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Receives, sorts, processes, and distributes U.S. mail, interoffice mail, UPS, FedEx, courier deliveries, packages, supplies, and other materials.

  • Completes scheduled, urgent, and time-sensitive deliveries and pickups throughout Yale Health and other assigned Yale locations.

  • Organizes daily delivery assignments and adjusts priorities based on departmental and operational needs.

  • Maintains delivery records, tracking information, signatures, and other required documentation.

  • Reviews incoming packages and shipments for accuracy, damage, and proper destination.

  • Reports discrepancies and assists with routine follow-up. Communicates with departments, vendors, couriers, and delivery personnel regarding delivery status, access needs, delays, and other routine service matters.

  • Assists with receiving, stockroom put away, supply distribution, inventory organization, and maintenance of storage areas.

  • Supports conference room setups, office moves, furniture relocation, special events, and other Building Services activities.

  • Safely operates university vehicles, delivery carts, hand trucks, and other approved material-handling equipment.

  • Identifies and reports delivery, safety, access, or operational concerns requiring additional follow-up.

  • Provides courteous and responsive service to Yale Health staff, departments, vendors, and university partners.

  • Performs additional functions incidental to delivery and Building Services operations.

Shift/Schedule:  Full-Time - 37.5 HRS; Weekdays M-F 8:30 AM - 5:00 PMSome early mornings, weekends, evenings, holidays and recess periods may be required.

Required Skills and Abilities

1. Experience in delivery services, mail operations, receiving, materials handling, customer service, facilities support, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

3. Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and prioritize assignments, manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy and professionalism.

4. Basic computer skills, including email, package-tracking systems, and standard workplace applications.

5. Valid driver's license and ability to meet Yale University requirements for operating university vehicles.


Preferred Skills and Abilities

Experience working in a healthcare, university, delivery, mailroom, receiving, stockroom, logistics, facilities, or service-oriented environment.


 

Principal Responsibilities

1. Provides specialized information on administrative, academic, financial aid, and procedural matters to students, prospective students, faculty, and staff. 2. Assists staff, faculty and students with the completion of forms. Identifies and resolves errors through contact with students and University departments. Maintains logs and records of activities. 3. Compiles statistical data and information. Establishes and maintains filing systems. 4. Uses computer terminal to input and retrieve data. Merges and manipulates filing systems. Monitors and reconciles financial data. 5. Keyboards letters, memoranda and other materials. Composes general written material. 6. Schedules and coordinates conferences, meetings, appointments, and classrooms. 7. May oversee and instruct support staff. 8. Performs clerical functions incidental to office activities. Required Education and Experience Four years of related work experience, two of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or two years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

This role is a healthcare worker position. Healthcare workers (HCW) are defined as university employees working a healthcare setting who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients, human research subjects or infectious materials including body substance, contaminated medical supplies, devices and equipment, surfaces, or air.  HCW have specific health requirements that must be met prior to starting work, including MMR vaccine or immunity, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine or immunity, TB screening, COVID vaccine according to University policy, hepatitis B vaccine or immunity, and annual flu vaccination.
