The Northrop Grumman CIDO Classified Solutions team is seeking a Backend Applications Support Administrator to support information system lifecycle activities. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time at our Redondo Beach, CA location.
Note: Due to the classified nature of the work being performed, this position does not offer any virtual or telecommute working options. Applicants are encouraged to apply, only if they are willing to work on-site.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Perform as a backend applications administrator for major enterprise and cyber applications.
Messaging & collaboration: Microsoft Exchange, Skype for Business / Microsoft Teams–based services.
Engineering & workflow tools: Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) and related integrations.
Data & databases: SQL-based applications and databases (e.g., MS SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres).
License management: FLEXlm / FlexNet license servers and license-file management.
Cybersecurity applications: Trellix (endpoint/host security), Nessus (vulnerability scanning), Splunk (logging, SIEM), and related toolsets.
Focus on backend functions.
Server and service configuration (Windows / Linux).
Application service deployment, clustering/high availability, and performance tuning.
Integration with Active Directory, DNS, PKI/certificates, and network components.
Backend role/permission models as required for security and compliance.
Troubleshoot complex issues affecting application services.
Service outages, degraded performance, and connectivity failures.
Integration problems between applications, databases, and cyber tools (Trellix/Nessus/Splunk).
Failures in licensing (FLEXlm/FlexNet), authentication, or messaging services.
Configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain.
Exchange/Skype/Teams servers and supporting components.
Atlassian servers and application-level integrations.
Database instances supporting these applications.
Trellix, Nessus, Splunk and related cyber platforms, including connectors, agents, and data feeds.
Implement and maintain backend security controls.
Coordinate with Cyber and ISSM/ISSO teams to align applications with NISPOM, RMF, JSIG, and internal security requirements.
Support hardening and STIG implementation for application servers.
Ensure vulnerability management workflows (Nessus) and logging/monitoring pipelines (Splunk, Trellix) are functioning and integrated.
Monitor application and cyber-tool health.
Configure dashboards/alerts (e.g., in Splunk or other monitoring tools) for service status, capacity, and errors.
Analyze logs to identify root causes and recurring issues, then drive remediation.
Support configuration management and change control.
Maintain standard builds and baselines for backend services.
Document and execute changes through appropriate change management processes.
Work across disciplines (systems engineering, networking, database administration, cyber security, and application teams) to isolate issues between application and operating system, application and database, cyber tools and monitored endpoints/servers, and license services (FLEXlm/FlexNet) and application usage.
Maintain and develop technical documentation for backend application architecture, configuration, and operating procedures.
Support environments via ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.), including clear status and timely communication to stakeholders.
Raise issues that require senior-level attention or vendor engagement and track them to closure.
Participate in after-hours and weekend support rotations as required to meet mission and customer needs.
This position may filled at a higher level based on the qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
Master's Degree with 3 years of experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience; OR an Associate's Degree with 7 years of experience; OR a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 9 years of experience is required
Must have a Security+ certification (or greater) in order to be considered
Candidates must have a current US Government Secret level security clearance (at a minimum) in order to be considered and have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Top Secret clearance as a condition of continued employment
Candidates must have the ability to obtain, and maintain, access to Special Programs as a condition of employment
Hands-on administration experience with backend services for at least two of the following: Microsoft Exchange or other enterprise messaging platforms, Skype for Business / Teams or similar unified communications platforms, Atlassian applications (Jira, Confluence) at the server/service level, SQL-based databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres) supporting applications, FLEXlm / FlexNet license managers and/or cyber tools such as Trellix, Nessus, or Splunk.
Experience administering applications on Windows and/or Linux/UNIX servers.
Experience with Active Directory, DNS, certificates (PKI), and basic networking concepts as they relate to application connectivity.
Experience with server/client software installation, configuration, and patching in an enterprise environment.
Basic Qualifications for level 4:
Master's Degree with 6 years of experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of experience; OR an Associate's Degree with 10 years of experience; OR a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 12 years of experience is required
Must have a Security+ certification (or greater) in order to be considered
Candidates must have a current US Government Secret level security clearance (at a minimum) in order to be considered and have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Top Secret clearance as a condition of continued employment

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
Active Top Secret, TS/SCI, SAP/SAR access, or Polygraph
Experience working under NISPOM Chapter 8, RMF, JSIG, or similar information system frameworks, and familiarity with STIGs for application servers.
Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar) for backend deployment, maintenance, and monitoring.
Experience with monitoring tools (Splunk, SolarWinds, or similar) for server and application health.
Familiarity with MECM/SCCM or other enterprise software distribution tools.
Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional, highly secure environments, balancing mission needs with security and compliance requirements.

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
