As an Equipment Engineer I - AMHS, you will be responsible for learning, developing, optimizing, and supporting Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) equipment that enables the movement and storage of semiconductor materials throughout Micron's manufacturing facilities. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a new engineer to develop technical expertise in semiconductor manufacturing, equipment engineering, automation systems, reliability engineering, data analytics, and project leadership.
Working alongside experienced engineers, technicians, suppliers, and manufacturing teams, you will learn how highly automated semiconductor factories operate while gaining hands-on experience troubleshooting complex equipment, improving manufacturing performance, and implementing innovative automation solutions.
You will contribute to equipment startup activities, continuous improvement projects, reliability initiatives, and equipment optimization efforts that improve safety, quality, output, cost performance, cycle time, and overall factory efficiency.

These activities may include troubleshooting equipment issues, implementing system improvements, supporting equipment startups, and responding to manufacturing challenges that impact quality, output, or cycle time.
Collaboration extends beyond the local site as you work with teams across Micron's global manufacturing network to share best practices, improve equipment performance, and drive standardization across factories.
Clear written and verbal communication is essential to ensure equipment changes, action plans, and project updates are communicated accurately and effectively.
Technical Development & Data Analysis
The Equipment Engineer I role provides opportunities to learn and develop expertise in semiconductor manufacturing systems, automation technologies, and equipment engineering principles.
Responsibilities include:
- Learning and supporting Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) equipment and associated factory automation systems.
- Utilizing data to identify equipment performance trends and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supporting troubleshooting activities and root cause investigations for equipment-related issues.
- Applying structured problem-solving methodologies such as FMEA, 8D, SPC, and statistical data analysis.
- Collaborating with engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, performance, and productivity.
- Participating in equipment qualification, startup, and optimization activities.
- Learning preventive maintenance strategies and identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance.
- Supporting spare parts management to ensure equipment availability and maintenance readiness.
- Assisting with documentation updates, standardization efforts, and equipment change management activities.
- Developing technical knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and factory automation systems.
- Utilizing AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, and automation technologies to improve equipment reliability, identify trends, accelerate root cause analysis, and increase operational efficiency.
- Demonstrating a willingness to learn and apply emerging AI technologies, data analytics tools, and digital manufacturing solutions to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Leveraging data-driven decision making to identify opportunities that improve safety, quality, cycle time, equipment uptime, and overall operational performance.
Project Management & Continuous Improvement

Qualifications
Successful candidates should possess:
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to learn AI-assisted productivity tools, manufacturing systems, and data analytics platforms.

- Experience utilizing engineering, research, laboratory, academic, internship, or project-based learning to solve technical challenges.
Education & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply engineering principles, solve technical problems, and work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Internship, co-op, research, laboratory, or project experience related to engineering, manufacturing, automation, robotics, data analytics, or industrial systems.
- Exposure to semiconductor manufacturing, automated systems, robotics, controls, data analysis, programming, or industrial automation.
- Experience using data-driven approaches to solve technical challenges and improve performance.
