Northrop Grumman is seeking Engineers to join the Aeronautics Systems Sector Intern Program. This position will be on-site in Melbourne, FL. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Systems Engineering directorate.

 

As an intern, you’ll participate in a summer internship program to develop competencies in a variety of Systems Engineering specializations that may include: Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Requirements Engineering, Modeling & Simulation Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Software Configuration Management, Data Management, Cyber Systems Engineering, Systems Architecture, and more.

Example Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform system engineering activities for all levels of a total system product, including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance

  • Works with other system, software, hardware, test, and quality teams to coordinate and integrate the development process and engineering efforts

  • Learn to systematically integrate, assemble, and verify lower-level system elements into successively higher-level system elements, until the system itself is realized in its entirety

 Basic Qualifications: 

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must: 

  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2027. 

  • Be majoring in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Systems Engineering, or other related STEM related field 

  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2027 

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).  

 

 Preferred Qualifications 

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25 out of 4.0 or higher 

  • Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular). 

  • Self-motivated, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment. 

  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups.   

  • Experience in working on business or engineering full life-cycle projects from project inception through launch.    

  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance or higher

 

Intern Pay Range : 

  • Undergraduate (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program for Fall 2027): $18.50 - $33.50/hour

  • Master’s: $26.25 - $41.50/hour

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.

Primary Level Salary Range: $18.50 - $41.50

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
