Global Customer Documentation represents a team of global writers creating, editing, and managing technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Job Description
Global Customer Documentation is seeking a detail-oriented, highly collaborative Technical Writer to join our team in planning, designing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation. In this role, you will act as the dedicated technical writer for the Command Central project, interpreting complex engineering data into clear, concise, and accessible content.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development & Life Cycle: Plan, write, structure, and update user manuals, online help, troubleshooting guides, and service documentation for both technical personnel and end-users.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with software engineers, product owners, and Information Architects to transform technical specifications, engineering demos, and complex concepts into user-friendly documentation.
AI-Assisted Writing: Leverage integrated AI tools (such as Gemini) to optimize initial engineering drafts, enhance readability, enforce standard terminology, and ensure grammatical precision.
Agile Workflow: Participate in 2-week sprint cycles using Jira to manage tasks, track progress, review deliverables, and meet project milestones.
Global Team Alignment: Work independently while coordinating cross-functionally with international product and engineering teams, including teams based in Kraków.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of professional experience in technical writing, preferably for software products or technical manuals.
Familiarity with XML authoring and XML-based content management systems (CMS) such as oXygen XML Author and Heretto CMS
Hands-on experience or familiarity using AI tools (e.g., Gemini) to assist in content generation and editing workflows.
Experience working within Agile/Scrum development methodologies and project management tools like Jira.
Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, able to manage multi-task workflows in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with a demonstrated ability to simplify technical language for diverse user audiences.
Strong computer literacy and proficiency with standard authoring and document production tools.
Availability to participate in meetings to align with various time zones.
Target Base Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
