Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an exciting career opportunity in Huntsville, Alabama for a Technical Writer – Level 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals, supporting the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon Systems (GWS) program. This position is located in Huntsville, AL.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities are in more than one of the following information systems and/or related areas: personal computer applications use and training, data control and scheduling coordination, systems administration, data security administration, and associated fields. This job incorporates those responsibilities by using data gathering technology and software and then transforming that data into charts, reports and information that drives critical decision making, information sharing and production improvements, this will put you right in the middle of allowing Production, Technical teams and Sr. leadership to all work more effectively and efficiently.
Other responsibilities:
Frequent collaboration with internal company personnel. Represents organization on specific projects and tracking metrics. May make presentations to small groups.
Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Works under only very general supervision. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgement and overall adequacy and accuracy.
Edit documents to ensure compliance with style, design, layout, specification, and grammar and spelling requirements.
Attend technical meetings, as requested, to capture discussion in minutes or other documentation.
Support Program Operations tasking, as assigned.
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience; a Master’s degree with 3 years applicable experience or 9 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
Active DOD Security Clearance.
Must have MIL STD 40051 experience.
Experience with XML, Arbor text and/or SGML.
Possess the skill and ability to perform complex tasks with minimal supervision.
Experience with understanding complex engineering drawings, specifications, and system description documents.
Experience with facilitating/supporting review boards.
Effective time management skills and ability to multi-task.
• Experience with creating, editing, and revising moderately complex technical documents, such as: Operating manuals, user guides, checklists, training materials, installation guides, and functional specifications.
Experience proofreading and ensure compliance with program-specific or DoD documentation standards and formatting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications :
Ability to stand up a Release Library and experience verifying that changes identified during board reviews are incorporated into documents and the Release Library.
Possess an understanding of and ability to apply military technical order principles, concepts practices, and standards.
Have existing knowledge of military aircraft technical order editing/writing processes.
Familiarity with technical manuals and standards specific to Integrated Product Support
(IPS) or other logistics documentation (e.g., Maintenance Work Instructions, Technical Orders).
S1000D or other Structured Document specifications.
Capable of producing clear, concise, and well-organized documentation while adhering to approved style guides and quality control processes.
