Job Summary:

The Space & Airborne (SAS) Center within Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities (SE&TC) is seeking experienced and talented Systems Engineers. The Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) SAS Department in El Segundo, CA supports troubleshooting, resolving system-level failures, and driving reliability improvements across radar hardware and software programs.  The LCE System Engineers support depot integration of hardware and software, develop test plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, and verify system requirements in support of final sell-off to the customer. You'll be expected to collaborate across disciplines and partners to implement solutions and perform the following tasks: 

In addition to the tasks above, you will have the opportunity to develop/update the Concept of Operations (CONOPS), system requirements and manage qualification, verification, and validation. The LCE Department focuses on back-end sustainment and repair design and sustainment development as well as transitioning systems through integration and test from production to warranty/sustainment. You may also perform functional / physical analysis, allocation, and trade studies, including the use of large data sets and analytics tools to identify trends and support data-informed engineering decisions relating to failure investigations and root cause analysis. This position is an onsite role in El Segundo, California.

What You Will Do:

  • Support RSIL Integration, Verification, and Validation (IV&V) planning and execution
  • Update and maintain system documentation, including CONOPS, requirements, specifications, drawings, and engineering databases
  • Assist in transitioning systems from production through integration, test, warranty, and sustainment
  • Troubleshoot test activities in labs, field, and Depot environments (up to 20% travel)
  • Perform hardware test support, repairs, mock‑up evaluations, and depot return assessments
  • Conduct failure analysis using root‑cause and corrective‑action methods
  • Perform functional/physical analyses and trade studies to support system reliability
  • Execute data analysis using MATLAB, SQL, and other tools to identify trends and performance issues
  • Translate large data sets into clear, actionable insights
  • Prepare and deliver reports and briefings to engineering and program stakeholders
  • Support sustainment engineering, depot repair processes, and implementation of sustainment requirements
  • Coordinate technical discussions across Program Management, Systems Engineering, and Chief Engineering
  • Provide technical support to Engineering IPTLs and assist in resolving system issues
  • Apply predictive analytics to anticipate failures and optimize maintenance planning
  • Develop Python tools to automate data analysis workflows and provide engineering insights

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 2 years of experience with System Integration, Verification and Validation (IV&V)
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Knowledge and experience with Airborne Radar Systems
  • Experience of working with engineering schematics, flow diagrams, requirements specification
  • Experience working with basic electrical test equipment, circuit, wiring, and electronic diagnostics tools: multimeters, oscilloscopes, tachometer, signal generator, etc.
  • Experience with reading and integrating software routines with hardware
  • Experience with instrumentation and collection of large data sets, including the application of scripting or automation to data collection and analysis
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize operational or test data to support system performance assessments and continuous improvement.
  • Microsoft Office, MATLAB, or Python, for data analysis and automation

The salary range for this role is 75,800 USD - 144,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
