Synchrolift Electrical Control Operator
Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Synchrolift Electrical Control Operator to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia.
The Synchrolift Electrical Control Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing the electrical control systems for the Synchrolift and ensuring their safe and efficient functionality. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Operating and monitoring Synchrolift electrical control systems to ensure the safe handling of vessels during dry docking and undocking operations.
Performing maintenance and troubleshooting of motor control center (MCC) operations and electrical components of the Synchrolift system.
Obtaining and maintaining specialized training from the Synchrolift manufacturer regarding the electrical control system operations.
Diagnosing and repairing electrical issues in control systems and associated equipment for continuous operational support of the Synchrolift.
Collaborating with Journeymen Electricians to ensure all control system maintenance is completed to industry standards.
Conducting regular quality inspections on the electrical control systems to ensure proper operation and prompt identification of faults.
Reviewing operational procedures and technical manuals to perform tasks safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responding to technical emergencies or electrical failures concerning the Synchrolift system.
Ensuring all electrical maintenance and repairs comply with safety and operational protocols.
Required Qualifications
Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
Strong electrical background with demonstrated expertise in operating and maintaining complex electrical systems.
Prior experience or knowledge of motor control center (MCC) operations.
Familiarity with electrical standards, maintenance practices, and safety regulations.
Completion of specialized training provided by the Synchrolift manufacturer for electrical control system operations (or ability to complete such training upon hire).
High school diploma or equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent technical credentials.
Previous experience in electrical systems for large mechanical equipment or maritime systems.
Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
Valid country driver’s license and passport.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and troubleshoot complex electrical systems effectively.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
