We are currently seeking a Staff Geologist to support the FAA William J Hughes Technical Center’s for Advanced Aerospace – Environmental Remediation Support Services contract in Atlantic City, NJ.

Job Description

(Duties & Responsibilities)

 

 

We are seeking an entry to mid-level Staff Geologist with 1-3 years of experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, excellent organizational skills. Below are the key responsibilities and requirements for the role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform groundwater monitoring activities, including low-flow groundwater sampling and water level measurements.
  • Conduct soil sampling using a variety of methods, including hand tools and direct-push (Geoprobe) technology.
  • Perform air monitoring tasks, including ambient air sampling.
  • Support field oversight of contractors during remedial action activities such as drilling, soil excavation, well installation, and system construction.
  • Accurately document field activities, including maintenance of field logs, sample chain-of-custody, and photo documentation.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot field instruments, including air, groundwater, and soil sampling equipment.
  • Assist with waste characterization, profiling, and disposal coordination during remediation activities.
  • Collect, organize, and verify data for reporting purposes, including groundwater monitoring reports, air monitoring summaries, and remedial action updates.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols during all field activities, including use of proper PPE and hazard recognition.
  • Maintain strong communication with project managers and team members to ensure that all field objectives are completed effectively and efficiently.

  

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline (required).
  • 1-3 years of field-based experience in environmental consulting or site remediation projects.
  • Proficiency in conducting field tasks such as groundwater, soil, and air sampling.
  • Familiarity with remedial action tasks including system monitoring, excavation activities, and waste management.
  • Experience planning field sampling events and coordinating with laboratory subcontractors.
  • Strong field data collection, recordkeeping, and report-writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to properly operate, maintain, and troubleshoot monitoring and sampling equipment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple field assignments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with GIS or environmental databases is a plus.
  • A commitment to health, safety, and adherence to regulatory requirements in fieldwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Knowledge of remediation systems and technologies, such as in-situ treatment methods, pump-and-treat systems, and excavation technologies
  • Familiarity with regulatory programs such as CERCLA, RCRA, and New Jersey specific environmental regulations.
  • Experience with subsurface investigations, including well installation and soil logging.

Physical Requirements (if any)

  • This is a field-based role that requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and environments, including construction or industrial sites.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and walk on uneven terrain while carrying equipment.

Compensation & Benefits:

HIRING SALARY RANGE:$61,000 - $77,000(Annually) (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Compensation Details:

$61,000 - $77,000

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
