Sr Systems Security Engineer

As a Senior Systems Security Engineer, you will lead the design and implementation of our security infrastructure. You will manage complex security projects, provide strategic direction for security practices, and mentor junior engineers.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of secure IT infrastructure.
  • Perform advanced security monitoring and threat analysis.
  • Develop and enforce comprehensive security controls and protocols.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new security technologies.
  • Manage mandatory Information System (IS) patching, updating, and scanning based on vulnerabilities and threats or regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain the day-to-day security posture and continuous monitoring for systems under your purview.
  • Interface with company and customer staff at multiple levels and provide system security guidance.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Security, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline and typically 8 years of experience in IT security or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience as an ISSO, ISSE, Network Analyst/Administrator/Engineer, Systems Analyst/Administrator/Engineer, IT Analyst/Administrator, Software Engineer, etc., may substitute for required education.
  • Proficiency administering Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience configuring and supporting Cisco or Juniper networking devices.
  • Experience supporting information systems within a classified environment.
  • Experience working with security control assessment and vulnerability scanning tools like Nessus and SCAP Compliance Checker.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • An active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance with SCI eligibility is required for hire.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and best practices.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Strong understanding of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and NIST Special Publications.
  • Professional certification such as ISSE CAP, CISSP, or CISM, but not required.
  • Additional security or audit certifications such as Security+, CISA, CASP+/SecurityX.
  • Platform-specific certifications such as MCSE, Linux-related certifications, and/or Cisco CCNP Security.
  • Experience with security tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection solutions.
  • Experience in the aerospace or defense industry.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work primarily at a computer for extended periods.
  • Capability to participate in on-call rotation for incident response.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This position requires current/active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
