The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems that ensure our products meet customer, regulatory, and company requirements. This role provides technical leadership in quality assurance, root cause analysis, process improvement, and compliance with aerospace quality standards. The Senior Quality Engineer works closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to drive continuous improvement and ensure product conformity throughout the product lifecycle.

This position works onsite in San Marcos, TX.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems in compliance with AS9100, FAA, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead investigations of nonconforming products using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC, etc.).
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing processes, and inspection plans to ensure quality requirements are achieved.
  • Lead internal and customer audits while supporting external regulatory audits.
  • Generates, manages, and presents/reports Key Process Indicators (KPIs) for the site including but not limited to: Scrap Rework Repair, Pareto by Defects, Repeat/Defects Per Unit, First Pass Yield, all Escapes, Audit Findings, etc.
  • Analyze quality metrics, process capability, and statistical data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop inspection methods, First Article Inspection (FAI) packages in accordance with AS9102, and control plans.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Validation where applicable.
  • Review Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions and support concession/deviation processes.
  • Mentor junior quality engineers and inspectors while promoting a culture of quality excellence.
  • Travel up to 20%.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with GD&T, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading root cause investigations and corrective action activities.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with NADCAP requirements.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, AS9100, American Society for Quality (ASQ).

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
