WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Serve as an engineering discipline expert in the organization.
- Develops and applies advanced theories, methods and research techniques to the investigation and solution of complex technical problems on a global basis, often collaborating across divisional and corporate boundaries.
- Provides discipline guidance and direction to external engineering resources. Is assigned global engineering problems, specific to his/her discipline, that require unique design/research approaches to problems which vary from standard techniques and procedures.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
- On a global basis, responsible for providing professional consulting services during conceptual, preliminary and final design phases of projects. Provide project technical support during Bidding/Negotiation and Construction phases of project. Is responsible for interpretation of design intent of bidding and contract document packages. Perform key role in the start-up of new facilities and equipment.
- Lead Concept Design and Development activities including review of component design for appropriate Design for Manufacturing (DFM) practices, establish process feasibility and development options, design reviews and evaluation of 3D models and 2D drawings for new components, benchmarking competitive products and processes.
- Review component design and process specifications and development plans with design agencies, external engineering partners, prototyping services, mold makers, contract manufacturers & equipment suppliers.
- Develop feasibility analyses, recommend alternatives for facility / process / equipment design and prepare related cost estimates for management or project engineering review.
- Collaborates across Divisions, on a global basis, to develop and apply Abbott Engineering standards.
- Direct technical discipline aspects of significant projects, often working in conjunction with outside consultants.
- Responsible for timely procurement of long-lead facility / process-related equipment.
- Maintains high level of accountability for discipline-specific execution of global projects.
- Assures compliance of projects with all applicable local, state, federal and international codes.
- Assist customers in development and implementation of product line or process improvements to enhance operating efficiencies.
- Research various cost-effective, alternative approaches to current processes.
- Review plans for long-range strategic alignment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree in one of the recognized engineering areas or equivalent.
- Minimum 15+ years’ experience in specific field of expertise beyond attainment of Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years’ with Master’s degree

The base pay for this position is
$113,300.00 – $226,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
