Imagine yourself as a pivotal member of Collins Aerospace's Vision Systems Electrical Engineering team, where your expertise in FPGA firmware development will drive the innovation of next-generation camera systems, heads up displays, and helmet mounted displays for both commercial and military aircraft. In this principle-level role, you will lead the charge in designing, verifying, and certifying complex FPGA firmware, ensuring that our systems not only meet but exceed stringent industry standards. Your contributions will be critical to the success of our projects, from initial requirements definition through to final product certification, allowing you to leave a lasting impact on the aviation industry.
What You Will Do:
Development of complex FPGA designs.
Define and capture requirements for new firmware designs using enterprise tools such as Jama
Create conceptual designs which include block level architecture, clock and reset distribution strategies, and bandwidth/latency analyses
Create detailed designs of the FPGA firmware at the register-transfer level with VHDL
Perform RTL synthesis and implementation using FPGA tools such as Vivado
Support board level integration of the FPGA firmware
Create verification artifacts for FPGA development using VHDL, SystemVerilog, and UVM
Present FPGA firmware design to certification authority
Oversee efforts and train less experienced designers
What You Will Learn:
Gain in-depth knowledge of aircraft vision systems including video display and camera systems.
Master the complete lifecycle of FPGA firmware design and verification for advanced aerospace applications.
Develop your project management skills, including project planning, schedule preparation, and status reporting.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
Advanced FPGA Development and Verification Experience
FPGA design for video or image processing
Qualification We Prefer:
Experience with Mentor Graphics Questasim.
Proficiency in VHDL.
System Verilog and UVM experience for FPGA Verification.
Experience working in Linux/Unix.
Excellent hands-on laboratory skills in testing and verifying FPGA designs in hardware, and familiarity with a wide range of test equipment.
Aerospace Background
Experience with aerospace certification of designs including familiarity with RTCA DO-254 is highly desired.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
