Based in Suffolk, Virginia, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.
Serves as the C2BMC National Team (NT) lead for interfacing with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) J36 staff and other organizations in the NCR for C2BMC activities. Works with the National Military Command Center (NMCC), the MDA Mission Operations Center, other commands in the NCR, and international partners to define roles, missions, ops concepts, and C2BMC system requirements. Supports a variety of sites in integrating C2BMC into their operations centers and in developing crew training requirements. Interfaces with National Team functional areas to define, status, and implement engineering solutions.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for facilitating and sharing Event Objective Worksheets (EOWs) created by MDA and the NT
- Interfaces with MDA and C2BMC Command Center (CCC or “Cube”) personnel to gather status updates
- Identifies and helps resolve operational issues
- Develops solutions to complex technical problems that require ingenuity and innovation
- Prepares operational plans, schedules, costs, internal office communications, and briefing materials
- Responsible for representing the C2BMC National Team within the User community
- Candidate understands and has worked with Command and Control Systems in the operational arena and at the Air Operations Center
Basic Qualifications:
Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
- Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the eligibility to be read on to SCI clearance
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
- Candidate must have experience in a joint or service command headquarters staff
- Candidate understands the operational environment
- Candidate knows how Command and Control Systems are used in an Operations Center
- Candidate should be able to be part of a C2BMC Warfighter LNO team tasked with supporting command and unit-level command and control, battle management, and communication systems
- Candidate must have excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal abilities
- Candidate must have experience briefing at the general officer/flag officer level
- Candidate must be a self-starting problem solver with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Applicants with a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application are highly desired, with the eligibility to be read on to SCI clearance
- Previous experience with Missile Defense and with a Command and Control system is highly desirable
- Knowledge of the Joint Staff environment, processes, and personnel is preferred
- Experience with the Integrated Tactical Warning and Attack Assessment (ITWAA) systems would be beneficial

Primary Level Salary Range: $106,800.00 - $160,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
