The position of Senior Logistics Analyst is part of our Toxicology Workplace Services business located in our Kansas City, MO, Lake Forest IL, or Richmond, VA office. The role will provide both strategic and operational leadership for Abbott Toxicology's transportation and logistics network.

This role is responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities to optimize logistics performance, reduce transportation costs, improve service levels, and drive operational efficiencies across a complex network of collection sites, laboratories, couriers, carriers, and transportation providers. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable evaluating enterprise-wide transportation strategies and addressing day-to-day operational challenges to ensure reliable, compliant, and cost-effective movement of specimens, testing materials, supplies, and related assets.

What You’ll Work On

  • Lead the development and execution of enterprise transportation and logistics strategies across all modes, balancing cost, service, risk, and scalability to support business growth and supply chain performance.
  • Identify, quantify, and prioritize freight and logistics cost-savings opportunities across the transportation network, building business cases and leading cross-functional initiatives to capture measurable financial benefits.
  • Drive end-to-end cost optimization projects from opportunity assessment through implementation, ensuring savings are realized, sustained, and aligned with operational and customer service objectives.
  • Partner with Procurement, Finance, Operations, Customer Service, and Supply Chain leadership to align transportation strategies with broader business goals and gain stakeholder support for transformational initiatives
  • Oversee carrier sourcing, network design, and transportation strategy, evaluating opportunities related to mode optimization, carrier mix, routing, consolidation, packaging, and service-level alignment.
  • Lead strategic carrier and logistics partner relationships, including performance management, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance value and reduce total landed costs.
  • Develop and leverage transportation analytics to identify trends, uncover inefficiencies, measure savings opportunities, and provide recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Create and communicate executive-level reporting, dashboards, business reviews, and strategic recommendations focused on transportation spend, operational performance, cost-to-serve, and logistics network optimization.
  • Govern forward, reverse, international, and intercompany logistics operations, continuously evaluating network performance and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, service levels, and cost effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Accounting to improve freight forecasting, accrual accuracy, spend visibility, and financial analysis while ensuring transportation decisions support overall business profitability.
  • Lead freight audit and payment strategy, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen compliance, eliminate process gaps, recover costs, and improve financial controls.
  • Monitor market conditions, transportation capacity, economic trends, and regulatory changes, translating insights into proactive sourcing, network, and operational strategies.
  • Resolve complex transportation and supply chain challenges by identifying root causes, coordinating stakeholder alignment, and implementing sustainable corrective actions across the organization.
  • Support business growth initiatives, new product introductions, and operational changes by ensuring transportation requirements, cost considerations, service expectations, and logistics capabilities are incorporated into planning and execution.
  • Lead the optimization of healthcare and laboratory/clinic logistics networks across a large and geographically dispersed clinic and collection-site footprint, ensuring the reliable, compliant, and cost-effective movement of specimens, testing materials, supplies, and related assets.
  • Evaluate end-to-end logistics workflows, identifying operational inefficiencies, service gaps, and cost drivers while implementing sustainable solutions that improve turnaround times, customer experience, network performance, and freight spend.
  • Partner with field operations, laboratory leadership, procurement, customer service, couriers, carriers, and collection sites to continuously improve transportation performance and network effectiveness.
  • Develop and execute logistics and transportation improvement initiatives that maximize network utilization, increase operational efficiencies, improve service delivery, and deliver measurable cost savings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the business

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 or more years of relevant professional experience
  • Must be proficient in MS Office including Excel, Access, Word and Outlook
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Must be comfortable evaluating large data sets and analyzing the data to identify improvement opportunities
  • Demonstrated experience managing transportation, logistics, courier, distribution, or service networks supporting time-sensitive products, services, healthcare operations, or regulated environments.
  • Experience analyzing transportation and operational data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and lead initiatives that improve service, operational efficiency, and transportation economics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to move seamlessly between strategic planning and operational execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a preference in Science, Engineering, IT / Computer Sciences, Finance or Accounting advantageous.
  • Database skills preferred.
  • Managing a courier network and a large number of parcel shipments.
  • Managing reverse logistics.
  • ERP system experience advantageous.
  • Experience supporting laboratory, healthcare, diagnostics, medical device, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated logistics and transportation environments.
  • Experience managing courier networks, transportation operations, or geographically dispersed service networks.
  • Demonstrated success leading transportation network optimization, route optimization, carrier performance management, and freight cost reduction initiatives.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, operational excellence, or continuous improvement experience preferred.
  • Experience balancing customer service requirements, turnaround-time expectations, and transportation cost objectives within a complex service network.

The base pay for this position is

$78,000.00 – $156,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
