OVERVIEW

Our Columbus, OH plant, Abbott's oldest nutrition manufacturing facility, is seeking a Material Control Manager - Warehouse (Senior Front Line Leader, Material Control). This role leads all warehouse operations and is responsible for a team of 4 Front Line Leaders and 30+ employees supporting a 24/7 manufacturing environment. The position also manages more than $25MM in raw material and inventory spend.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Key Scope

  • 24/7 warehouse operation supporting 5 manufacturing lines
  • Direct leadership of 4 Front Line Leaders and 30+ employees
  • Financial responsibility for $25MM+ in inventory and material spend
  • Ownership of safety, quality, productivity, and financial performance metrics

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

  • Lead department EHS performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coach leaders and employees on safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Drive accountability for EHS results and foster a safety-first culture.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits, investigations, and timely corrective and preventive actions.

Quality & Compliance

  • Lead quality and compliance performance for warehouse operations.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Make decisions that impact product quality and material handling processes.
  • Participate in audits, investigations, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Build team ownership and accountability for quality results.

Financial & Business Performance

  • Manage warehouse budgets and inventory assets exceeding $25MM.
  • Deliver financial targets through effective cost management and material utilization.
  • Monitor key performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with stakeholders on budgeting, forecasting, and cost improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and implement productivity and cost savings opportunities.

Operations & Productivity

  • Lead warehouse performance, efficiency, and service metrics supporting five manufacturing lines.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
  • Plan and coordinate daily operations, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Ensure alignment between warehouse, production, and support functions.
  • Establish and execute plans to improve operational and productivity performance.

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop Front Line Leaders and warehouse employees.
  • Set clear performance expectations and provide timely feedback and development.
  • Build a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Support talent development through training, mentoring, and succession planning.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and promote positive employee relations.
  • Establish effective communication across teams and functional partners.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Own results for multi-shift, 24/7 warehouse operations.
  • Mentor and develop Front Line Leaders to drive departmental performance.
  • Lead staffing and workforce planning activities.
  • Ensure employees are trained and equipped to meet operational expectations.
  • Promote a culture focused on safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive operational excellence and accountability across the department.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, science, food technology, technical or engineering, or a related field
  • 7 or more years of experience in Manufacturing or Supply Chain, with preference toward experience within a leadership role
  • Project Management Certification or experience or knowledge in project management
  • Continuous Improvement Project Delivery experience or knowledge

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior warehouse management experience
  • Advanced Degree in business, science, food technology or engineering, or a related field
  • Black Belt and/or Green Belt Certification
  • Strategic planning & execution experiences
  • Process control management experience
  • Leading organizational change projects

The base pay for this position is

$99,300.00 – $198,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
