About the Role:
CrowdStrike is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Proactive Security team within Cloud Security Group. In this role you will focus on helping our customers to detect and prevent threats in cloud environments through advanced detection techniques and methodologies, before they can cause harm.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, product management, and security researchers to drive detection capabilities while building a team and managing direct reports.
We're seeking innovative problem-solvers who can take ownership of complex technical challenges across our platform. This role is hybrid, on-site at one of the posted locations. The candidate should be comfortable visiting the office twice a week once the development center is established.
About the Cloud Proactive Security Team
A global team of engineers that develops and maintains mechanisms to prevent cloud misconfigurations and security risks before deployment - The team builds intelligent prevention capabilities that identify and block insecure cloud configurations.
Develops and maintains proactive security controls that protect Kubernetes clusters, container registries, serverless functions, and cloud workloads from emerging threats in multiple cloud vendors as well as private data centers.
Creates developer-friendly tools and integrations that embed security prevention directly into CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and Kubernetes deployment processes.
What You Will Do:
Lead backend engineering efforts from rapid prototypes to large-scale applications across CrowdStrike products
Leverage and build cloud-based systems to detect targeted attacks and automate cyber threat intelligence production at a global scale
Brainstorm, define and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams
Obsess about learning, and champion the newest technologies & tricks with others, raising the technical IQ of the team
Work in a startup-like environment with a small fast-moving team
Be mentored and mentor other developers on web, backend, and data storage technologies and our system
Constantly re-evaluate our product to improve architecture, knowledge models, user experience, performance and stability
Be given the autonomy to own your work in a high trust environment.
What You’ll Need:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
Degree in Computer Science (or professional experience in data structures/algorithms/distributed systems)
Understanding scalability and distributed systems i.e. sharding, partitioning, concurrency, etc
Being a team player
A thorough understanding of engineering best practices from appropriate testing paradigms to effective peer code reviews and resilient architecture.
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, test-driven, collaborative and iterative programming environment.
The skills to meet your commitments on time and produce high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed and checked in regularly for continuous integration.
Experience handling large-scale datasets and building scalable data solutions
Expertise in cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP), container orchestration with Kubernetes
Programming skills in Golang, Python, or similar languages
Experience with Kafka, Cassandra, ElasticSearch technologies
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and adopt AI/GenAI tooling to enhance decision-making within an engineering team — including identifying use cases, managing adoption , improving efficiency, driving business outcomes, and measuring impact.
Familiarity with real-time streaming and analytics platforms (e.g., Apache Pinot, Kafka, Flink, or similar)
Demonstrated experience working with distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark
Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.
Bonus Points:
Contributions to the open-source community (GitHub, Stack Overflow, blogging)
Existing exposure to Go, Scala, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch...
Prior experience in the cybersecurity or intelligence fields

Placement within the pay range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location.
