Solution Architect
Purpose and Impact:
As a Solution Architect at Amentum, you will serve as a critical technical and customer-facing leader, crafting innovative, executable solutions for our customers’ most complex challenges while actively contributing to the growth and success of Amentum’s capture portfolio and technical capabilities.
This role sits at the intersection of business development, technical solutioning, sales engineering, capture, and capability development. You will work closely with Capture, Business Development, Proposal, Pricing, and Program teams to understand customer mission needs, shape opportunities, develop differentiated technical solutions, and translate those solutions into compelling customer value propositions.
You will architect impactful technical, management, and transition solutions that address customer pain points, align with mission objectives, and differentiate Amentum in the competitive federal and Intelligence Community (IC) markets. You will also help build and mature Amentum’s capabilities by identifying technology and capability gaps, supporting the development of prototypes and laboratory demonstrations, and helping transform emerging technologies into repeatable offerings.
First and foremost, our team develops comprehensive and differentiated solutions for winning proposals. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable whiteboarding an architecture with an engineer, presenting a solution to a customer, developing a technical ROM/BOM, supporting a proposal, and helping build a lab demonstration that brings the solution to life.
Your expertise will drive early opportunity shaping, customer engagement, technical sales, proposal development, capability development, and solution delivery strategies that underpin key wins and long-term program success.
Work Schedule:
- Shift Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required to support high-priority initiatives or deadlines. Some flexibility may be needed for on-call responsibilities.
- Workdays: Standard business week (Monday–Friday).
Essential Responsibilities:
Solution Development & Architecture
- Architect end-to-end solutions that integrate innovation, customer requirements, technical feasibility, operational considerations, and cost with a balanced approach to risk and delivery.
- Translate complex customer mission requirements into clear, executable technical solutions and architectures.
- Develop proposal-ready technical artifacts, including technical volumes, solution strategies, architecture diagrams, graphics, technical presentations, and oral presentation materials.
- Conduct early shaping activities such as solution workshops, capability gap analysis, technical exchanges, demonstrations, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts to position Amentum ahead of formal RFP releases.
- Research and integrate emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, Zero Trust architectures, cross-domain solutions, digital modernization, DevSecOps, enterprise IT, cloud, automation, and data integration) that enhance alignment with customer needs and provide clear competitive advantages.
- Partner with Pricing and Program Managers to develop resource-loaded solutions, staffing models, labor estimates, and other solution inputs that are responsive, efficient, technically defensible, and executable.
- Develop and/or support technical Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM), Basis of Estimate (BOE), Bill of Materials (BOM), labor, and other cost inputs necessary to support solution development and business development activities.
Technical Sales & Customer Engagement
- Serve as a technical sales and solutions engineering resource, partnering with Business Development and Capture to translate customer challenges into compelling technical solutions and value propositions.
- Participate in customer meetings, technical exchanges, demonstrations, whiteboarding sessions, industry engagements, and other customer-facing activities.
- Present and defend technical solutions to both technical and executive audiences.
- Build trusted relationships with customer stakeholders and use customer insights to refine solution approaches and identify new opportunities.
- Engage customers early to validate solution concepts, understand mission priorities, influence acquisition strategies, and position Amentum capabilities.
- Clearly communicate the business and mission value of technical solutions rather than simply describing technical features or capabilities.
- Support the development of customer-specific demonstrations, prototypes, and technical showcases that bring proposed solutions to life.
Capture & Proposal Leadership
- Collaborate with Capture Managers and Business Development to define win themes, articulate value propositions, and integrate technical discriminators across proposal volumes.
- Lead solution development across the opportunity lifecycle—from early capture and customer shaping through proposal submission and transition to delivery.
- Drive the iterative development and refinement of technical solutions through internal reviews (Blue Teams, Pink Teams, Red Teams, etc.) to develop compelling, customer-specific solutions.
- Lead and facilitate internal and external solutioning sessions with SMEs, teammates, partners, and customers.
- Ensure proposed solutions are compliant with solicitation requirements, aligned to Section M evaluation criteria, responsive to customer hot buttons, and technically executable.
- Support technical proposal pricing and solution reviews by validating staffing, labor categories, technical assumptions, ROMs, BOMs, and other cost-related inputs.
Capability Development & Technical Innovation
- Help build, mature, and operationalize Amentum technical capabilities and offerings in alignment with customer demand and market opportunities.
- Identify gaps in Amentum’s current capabilities, technologies, talent, tools, and partnerships and recommend strategies to address those gaps.
- Support build/buy/partner decisions and the development of new technical offerings and reusable solution components.
- Develop and support laboratory demonstrations, prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and technical demonstrations that showcase emerging capabilities and can be leveraged for customer engagement, capture, and proposals.
- Collaborate with technical SMEs, engineers, developers, and delivery organizations to turn concepts into demonstrable, repeatable capabilities.
- Identify opportunities to create reusable architectures, demonstrations, technical collateral, accelerators, and solution frameworks that can be leveraged across multiple opportunities.
- Help connect emerging technologies and internal technical investments to real customer mission requirements and business opportunities.
Customer & Market Differentiation
- Maintain awareness of customer missions, technology priorities, acquisition strategies, and competitive landscapes.
- Develop technical discriminators, ghosting strategies, and differentiated solution approaches that position Amentum ahead of competitors.
- Leverage customer and market intelligence to identify emerging requirements and opportunities for capability investment.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships within the federal and Intelligence Community customer environment.
- Apply knowledge of IC customer missions and acquisition environments to develop solutions that are relevant, realistic, and executable.

- Lead technical SMEs, developers, engineers, and operational experts in producing integrated, winning solution approaches.
- Facilitate collaboration across technical disciplines and business functions to ensure solutions are cohesive and executable.
- Mentor and support junior architects and capture team resources to build internal technical solutioning capacity.
- Develop and maintain repeatable solution frameworks, reference architectures, templates, technical collateral, and reusable assets.
Strategic Contributions
- Shape win strategies and integrated solution plans, ensuring alignment between technical strategies, capture objectives, and Amentum’s broader business growth goals.
- Participate in and lead discussions during capture and proposal gate reviews, ensuring technical compliance, solution quality, and alignment with business priorities.
