Software Engineer - Expert

Location: National Capital Region (NCR) or San Antonio, TX
 

Nightwing is seeking an Expert Software Engineer that provides technical leadership and advanced engineering expertise for the most complex and critical aspects of the unified AMS/FIPE solution. This position works on high-visibility mission-critical components, establishes engineering standards, and oversees technical efforts of development teams. With deep expertise in offensive cyber operations and enterprise software development, the Expert Engineer ensures the delivery of robust, scalable solutions that meet stringent security and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead architecture and design of critical system components
• Provide technical leadership for complex engineering challenges
• Establish coding standards and engineering best practices
• Conduct advanced troubleshooting and performance optimization
• Lead integration efforts with external systems and platforms
• Mentor and oversee work of less senior engineers
• Participate in technical planning and roadmap development
• Lead security architecture implementation
• Support critical production issues requiring deep technical expertise
• Represent team in technical exchange meetings with stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 14 years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in cyber operations
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent substitution)
• Expert-level knowledge of distributed systems architecture
• Deep expertise in multiple technology stacks and programming paradigms
• Extensive experience with cloud-native development and multi-cloud architectures
• Advanced understanding of security principles and secure coding practices
• Proven track record leading complex technical implementations
• Strong knowledge of offensive cyber operations mission requirements
• Experience with workflow orchestration and automation platforms
• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph
• Must be U.S. citizen

Salary & Benefits

The salary associated with this position ($122,000-$253,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
