Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer – Developer to support the B-52 team in Oklahoma City, OK.

Our teams is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Lead Software Engineer - Developers.

Boeing has been awarded a $2 billion contract from the U.S. Air Force to continue development of the B-52 Commercial Engine Replacement Program. This next phase focuses on modifying and flight-testing two B-52 test aircraft to validate the upgrades before moving into full production. The new engines and systems will increase efficiency, range and operational life — keeping the B-52 relevant into 2050 and beyond. The modifications will also improve reliability, streamline maintenance, lower life cycle cost and enable longer missions — all things that directly support the warfighter. The two test aircraft will also receive upgrades to power generation and distribution, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, cockpit controls and displays, flight avionics, and onboard engine start capability.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains non-embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards

  • ​Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design of software products

  • ​Develops, maintains, enhances and optimizes software products and functionalities for systems integrations

  • ​Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products

  • Debugs and resolves issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products

  • ​Handles user inquiries, troubleshoots technical issues and user feedback analysis

  • Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development

  • ​Develops, establishes, monitors and improves software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks

  • Executes and documents software research and development projects

  • Advises on software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations

  • Performs software project management activities and software supplier management functions

  • ​​Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance Post-Start is required

  • 4+ years of experience developing, documenting, and maintaining architectures, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems

  • 4+ years of experience in C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Ada

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 4: 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience programming in Ada

  • Agile/SAFe development experience

  • Experience with DevOps tools, such as GitLab (CI/CD), Git Bash, Jira, and Artifactory

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with stakeholders of different backgrounds and skill levels

  • Experience working with Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability and desire to work in a team environment

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range for Experienced level (Level 3): USD $ 118,150 - $ 159,850

Summary Pay Range for Lead level (Level 4): USD $ 149,600  - $ 202,400

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
