Software Engineer
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly capable Software Development Engineer to design and deliver modern, scalable, and secure software solutions for complex mission needs. This role is ideal for an engineer who is comfortable working across distributed systems, contemporary architectures, and high‑performance codebases while using AI‑assisted development tools such as Claude Code and AI agents to accelerate design, implementation, and testing. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, apply strong engineering discipline, and contribute to the creation of reliable, maintainable systems that can evolve over time. This position is suited for someone who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, driving innovation, and building high‑quality software with efficiency and precision.
This is a hybrid opportunity with a combination of working in the office in either of the locations listed (Fairfax, VA, Denver, CO, Austin, TX or Melbourne, FL and remote).
Qualifications:
Required:
- U.S. Citizen, and the ability to obtain and hold a DoD security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience supporting complex systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure software components within a larger system architecture.
- Use Claude Code, AI agents, and other AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, refactoring, and documentation.
- Collaborate with product owners, systems engineers, and developers to turn requirements into technical designs and working software.
- Develop clean, well‑structured APIs and system integration points supporting distributed interoperability.
- Participate in code reviews, write automated tests, and enforce code quality using solid engineering discipline.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues across components, environments, and pipelines; drive problems to resolution.
- Contribute to lifecycle documentation, including design docs, interface definitions, and deployment instructions.
- Work within DevSecOps workflows, supporting CI/CD automation, containerized deployments, and configuration management.
Desired:
- Experience implementing or orchestrating multi‑agent AI workflows for development acceleration.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization, and distributed system design.
- Experience integrating AI-assisted tools into CI/CD for code analysis, automated tests, or workflow optimization.
- Knowledge of microservices, event‑driven systems, or real‑time data processing.
- Experience with high‑performance, embedded, or mission‑focused systems requiring high reliability.
- Familiarity with modern observability practices (logging, tracing, automated monitoring).
- Experience leading or mentoring other engineers.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
