CIT is searching for an Expert Software Developer to join our team in Chantilly, VA, supporting the
design, development, and modernization of enterprise applications that power complex mission
systems.
Whether your expertise is in full-stack application development or modern front-end engineering,
you'll collaborate with architects, engineers, and mission stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and
high-performing software solutions. This role offers the opportunity to influence technical direction,
solve challenging engineering problems, and work with modern technologies in a collaborative Agile
environment.

 

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and enhance enterprise software applications that support mission-critical
Intelligence Community operations. 
• Develop scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and/or Python. 
• Build responsive, modern user interfaces using JavaScript, Angular, and contemporary front-end
development practices. 
• Develop and optimize distributed data processing solutions using Apache Spark where applicable. 
• Design and maintain search and analytics capabilities using Elasticsearch. 
• Collaborate with architects, systems engineers, and product stakeholders to translate mission
requirements into innovative technical solutions. 
• Lead technical design discussions, perform peer code reviews, and contribute to software
architecture decisions. 
• Troubleshoot complex software issues while improving application performance, scalability, and
maintainability. 
• Support CI/CD, automated testing, and DevSecOps initiatives throughout the software development
lifecycle.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related
technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience). 
• Approximately 10+ years of professional software development experience. 
• Expertise in one or more modern software development disciplines, including: 
o Full-stack development using Java and/or Python, RESTful APIs, and enterprise application
frameworks; or 
o Front-end development using JavaScript, Angular, and modern UI development frameworks. 
• Experience designing and developing enterprise software applications within Agile development
environments. 
• Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming principles, and
application design. 

 

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Apache Spark for distributed data processing. 
• Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch. 
• Experience developing cloud-native applications in AWS. 
• Experience with Spring Boot, microservices, or distributed system architectures. 
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application development. 
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or similar automation tools.

Pay Range:

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$103,800 - $218,100
