Sight and Sound Supervisor

Amentum is seeking a Sight and Sound Supervisor to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Sight and Sound Supervisor is responsible for overseeing live event audio-visual (AV) operations, including the setup, mixing, maintenance, and repair of sight and sound systems. This role involves configuring advanced lighting and sound systems to produce high-quality effects and ensuring top-tier AV support for events.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate and perform live sound mixing to ensure top-quality audio during events.
- Set up, configure, and position lighting, sound systems, and equipment to produce high-quality audio and visual effects.
- Amplify, balance, and enhance voices, music, and other sounds to create exceptional event experiences.
- Maintain, repair, and calibrate sight and sound systems to ensure consistent high performance.
- Detect and resolve quality deviations or equipment malfunctions promptly to prevent event disruptions.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of AV equipment to extend operational lifespan and minimize downtime.
- Configure lighting systems to complement event themes, ensuring proper placement, brightness, and effects.
- Collaborate with event coordinators and clients to meet specific AV requirements for live performances, presentations, and other activities.
- Advise and train junior staff or technicians on proper AV operational techniques and best practices.
- Ensure all equipment is tested and ready for use before, during, and after events.
- Monitor audio and visual quality during live events and implement real-time adjustments to maintain optimum standards.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of four (4) years of satisfactory experience in:
- Live sound mixing.
- Operating, maintaining, and repairing sight and sound systems.
- Configuring lighting and sound systems to produce high-quality effects.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of live mixing techniques and proper equipment positioning to achieve optimal sound quality.
- Ability to detect quality deviations or malfunctions in sound and lighting equipment and resolve issues effectively.
- Proficient in using advanced AV equipment, tools, and software for mixing, amplification, and configuration.
- Strong understanding of how to balance and amplify voices, music, and sound effects for live events.
- Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills to coordinate with event teams and clients.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure audio-visual components meet specifications and high-quality standards.
- Physical ability to lift and position heavy sound and lighting equipment as required.
- Must be able to successfully complete and maintain all required training and certifications, including Customer Service, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and local emergency procedures training, with annual recertification as required.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in an OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
- Formal certification or specialized training in audio engineering, sound mixing, or AV system maintenance.
- Familiarity with military or government AV operations for events, ceremonies, and presentations.
- Experience with advanced audio-visual software or tools for live mixing and lighting design.
- Valid country driver’s license.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
