Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer (level 5) to join the team located in Roy, UT in support of the Sentinel program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.
What you will get to do:
The selected Staff Systems Engineer (level 5) will be responsible for operating in an agile team environment to perform the following:
- Serve as a System Engineer, proficient in Cyber Security supporting high-level technical and practical expertise for the development of support equipment.
- The selected candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills and will have a good track record as a self-motivated, driven contributor who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Design, plan, implement, and perform assessment of cyber security controls, policies, and processes compliance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-53, CNSSI 1253, and DoD RMF Knowledge Service guidance.
- Provide systems engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of support equipment, providing guidance and assistance with the design and development of cyber requirements.
- Provide advanced technical analyses of cyber infrastructure challenges and problems; develop/identify technical solutions responsive to Sentinel needs.
- Participate in team reviews of technical requirements, design, and implementation plans prior to deployment.
- Assist with ensuring the product requirements integrate into the total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Present solutions to customers and senior management using tailored material based on the audience.
This position requires practical experience in developing and implementing a security baseline and must be able to communicate its significance and relevance in a clear, detailed manner.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with 12 years of experience; or master’s degree with 10 years of experience; or PhD with 8 years of experience
- Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- 2 years of experience utilizing tools such as IBM DOORS© and Dassault CAMEO.
- 2 years of experience developing system architectures and implementing MBSE processes.
- 2 years of experience with requirements development, derivation, system integration & test, and validation and verification.
- 2 years of experience linking requirements to design elements, traceability matrices, and change impact analysis.
- 2 years of experience in Cybersecurity Framework/CMMC or NIST 800-171 or NIST 800-53
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Top-Secret clearance.
- One of the following DoD 8570 IAM II/III Certifications (CompTIA SecurityX (CASP), CISSP, CSSLP, CAP, GLSC, CASP CE).
- One of the following DoD 8140 Intermediate Level Certifications for Security Architect (i.e., CompTIA+ SecurityX/CASP+, CISSP, CSSLP, GSEC or equivalent)
- Experience in modeling and analyzing cybersecurity with Agile methodologies.
- Certification at or exceeding IASAE level 1 (CISSP or CASP or CSSLP minimum and CISSP-ISSEP for Level III)
- Demonstrated application of DoD 8500-series and 8510.01 IA policy directives, approaches to cyber security, knowledge of security procedures, IATT and ATO requirements.

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
