Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to add an Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer to its Specialty Engineering team located in either Roy, Utah in support of the Sentinel (GBSD) program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

This position is for a mid-level career systems engineer (T03 or T04 level) with a focus on design for electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC). The selected candidate will be expected to contribute to various efforts within the E3 Design Support team including design reviews, analysis, and E3 CDRLs development.

The E3 engineer will review and provide actionable feedback on system designs to the design teams for various Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). They will develop, follow, and apply EMI/EMC principles, techniques, and concepts. They will provide EMI test witnessing support, develop EMI test plans and procedures, and provide EMI Test guidance to IPTs that need to meet MIL-STD-461G requirements. The selected candidate will work under the direction of the E3 Design Support lead, or the EMI Test Support Lead.

In this position, you will be expected to:

  • Apply sound technical principles, theories, and concepts in EMI/EMC design and/or EMI Test

  • Work on a wide range of technical problems and provide innovative solutions

  • Ensure systems and equipment meet MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464 and other compliance requirements

  • Work with fellow E3 engineers to review designs and ensure acceptable implementation of EMI/EMC controls

  • Review technical schematics, drawings, plans and/or specifications

  • Participate in the review of work products developed by others

Basic Qualifications

This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Engineer (T-03 level) or Sr Principal Engineer (T-04 level).

Required for Both Levels:

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

  • 3+ years’ experience in electromagnetic interference (EMI) and/or electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design, concepts, or testing

  • Basic understanding of EMI/EMC concepts and controls

Principal Systems Engineer (T-03 level):

  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics, from an accredited university; 3 Years with Masters or 1 year with PhD

Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (T-04 level):

  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics, from an accredited university; 6 Years with Masters or 4 years with PhD

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience using Automated EMI test software and data collection – TILE!

  • Proficient with requirements and MBSE management tools

  • Proficient with DOORS, Cameo, and/or Rhapsody

  • MIL-STD-461G testing experience or commercial equivalence

  • Active DoD Top-Secret Clearance

  • Experience with MIL-STD-461 and/or MIL-STD-464

  • Prior experience performing EMI/EMC design work on a missile program

  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools such as Spice, MATLAB, ANSYS HFSS/EMA3D/Maxwell, CST, or other codes

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
