Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Sentinel Deputy Chief Engineer Software. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

This role functions as a Deputy Chief Engineer for the Command Systems Business unit, focusing on leading the SDS Software Factory.  You will be a leader and advocate implementing the Integrated Functional Capability Strategy across the program, working between all teams to ensure all software is delivered, testing and on-time.  You will be critical as the SDS Software Factory comes to life and provide key leadership to shape the culture of the team.  The SDS SW Factory develops software for all aspects of the weapon system from the missile's flight software to command and control ground systems.

  • Ensure the program is adhering to sound engineering processes in the development, verification, production and sustainment of products for our customers and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and quality standards.
  • Ensure an achievable technical baseline that provides technical performance balanced with cost and schedule. Particular focus is given to Key Performance Parameters and Technical Performance Measures.
  • Support Program Management Team (PMT) meetings, including but not limited to: Technical Review Board (TRB), Weapons System Working Group (WSWG), Configuration Control Board (CCB), Program Management Review (PMR), Program Increment (PI) planning and reporting, Risk & Opportunity Management Board (ROMB).
  • Work horizontally to resolve disconnects across teams to ensure design decisions meet system performance.
  • Support strategic SDS Sector initiatives on tools, processes, and cross-program technical reviews.
  • Champion long-term strategic technical objectives within Sentinel and at the SDS division level.
  • Support strategically valuable technical interchange meetings with Sentinel partners.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • 16+ years of experience with Bachelors in STEM; 14+ years of experience with Masters in STEM
  • US Citizenship with Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
  • +10 Years of SW Experience (Experience in C++, real-time embedded software, and object-oriented design. Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debugging, and maintenance.)
  • +5 years of Hardware/Software integration with System architecture, design, requirements decomposition, hardware-in-the-loop, and simulation testing.
  • Experience with technical leadership, coaching and team management skills.
  • Experience with engineering metrics, schedule planning, and technical scope execution, utilizing Earned Value Management System (EVMS).

Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience in incremental development and delivery frameworks such as Incremental Fielding Capability (IFC)
  • Demonstrated performance in aligning and technical driving execution.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including expertise in executive-level communication.
  • Experience in the development of complex safety critical systems as well as the industry standards (MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516, Section 15, DO-178, DO-254 etc.)
  • Experience designing for and certifying a system for Nuclear Surety and Certification would be ideal (DoDI 3150.02, AFMAN 91-119)
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool set, Kubernetes, Model Based Engineering, GitLab, and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Experience with Integrity Operating Systems and/or VxWorks

Primary Level Salary Range: $183,200.00 - $274,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
