This is an ONSITE position based out of our National Business Park, Maryland location.

What You Will Do:

  • Design and develop enterprise-grade Java applications using OSGi framework principles for modular, dynamic service architectures
  • Build and maintain applications on Apache Karaf, leveraging its runtime container capabilities for deploying and managing OSGi bundles
  • Contribute to software-defined networking (SDN) platforms, developing controllers, plugins, and network management applications
  • Develop modular services that enable dynamic network configuration, monitoring, and orchestration capabilities
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and northbound/southbound interfaces for network programmability and integration
  • Build scalable microservices architectures that support distributed network functions and real-time data processing
  • Optimize application performance for high-throughput, low-latency environments handling complex network traffic
  • Collaborate with network engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative networking solutions
  • Implement automated testing strategies including unit, integration, and system-level tests for mission-critical components
  • Participate in code reviews, technical design sessions, and contribute to architectural decisions
  • Ensure adherence to agile development practices and configuration management standards using modern DevSecOps tools and workflows
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in distributed systems and network control applications

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • A STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of professional Java development experience
  • Strong expertise in OSGi framework architecture, including bundle lifecycle, service registry, and modularity principles
  • Proven experience with Apache Karaf or similar OSGi runtime containers (e.g., Apache Felix, Eclipse Equinox)
  • Deep understanding of Java frameworks including Spring, Spring Boot, and dependency injection patterns
  • Experience with software-defined networking concepts, network protocols, and programmable network architectures
  • Proficiency in building RESTful web services and working with API design patterns
  • Experience with messaging systems and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)
  • Solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming in Java
  • Familiarity with version control using Git and CI/CD automation tools
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience debugging complex distributed systems
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a passion for innovation and collaboration
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph
  • U.S. citizenship is required

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience contributing to open-source SDN controller platforms and network virtualization projects
  • Knowledge of network protocols (e.g., OpenFlow, NETCONF, RESTCONF, BGP, OSPF)
  • Experience with YANG data modeling and network device configuration management
  • Familiarity with network function virtualization (NFV) and virtual network functions (VNF)

Salary & Benefits

The salary associated with this position ($122,000-$253,000) is commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise. Compensation will be determined based on these factors to ensure alignment with skills, responsibilities, and market standards.
