Senior Systems Architect
The Opportunity
CACI is seeking an experienced Senior Architect to provide technical leadership for large-scale Department of Defense (DoD), U.S. Space Force, Intelligence Community (IC), and Federal Civilian modernization programs supporting secure communications, enterprise IT infrastructure, satellite ground systems, and mission-critical network architectures.
The Senior Architect will serve as the principal technical authority responsible for developing innovative, scalable, and secure enterprise solutions supporting complex government acquisitions from opportunity identification through proposal development, system implementation, transition, and operations. This individual will lead technical strategy, solution architecture, systems engineering, and technical execution across multiple programs while collaborating with customers, program managers, chief engineers, capture managers, and engineering teams to deliver resilient, mission-focused capabilities. The position requires an exceptional combination of systems engineering expertise, satellite communications experience, enterprise networking, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, and infrastructure modernization.
The ideal candidate possesses direct experience leading the engineering and deployment of globally distributed satellite ground infrastructure, including Ka-Band Ground Entry Points (GEPs), S-Band antenna systems, and Optical Ground Terminals (Laser Communications) supporting next-generation military satellite constellations.
Responsibilities Include
Serve as a principal Architect, leading technical strategy, architecture development, and engineering execution for large-scale defense, intelligence, and national security programs.
Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams through the design, integration, modernization, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise IT, secure communications, and satellite ground systems.
Architect and integrate satellite ground and gateway solutions, including Ground Entry Points (GEPs), Ka-/S-Band systems, optical ground terminals, RF communications, secure transport networks, mission interfaces, and timing/synchronization systems.
Provide end-to-end systems engineering leadership across requirements analysis, system architecture, interface management, trade studies, integration, test and evaluation, verification and validation, configuration management, and transition to operations.
Design and modernize secure enterprise network, data center, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure, incorporating routing/switching, virtualization, cybersecurity, and cloud migration technologies.
Develop secure communications and cybersecurity architectures leveraging Zero Trust, CSfC, RMF, Cross Domain Solutions, secure cloud technologies, NSA encryption, and NIST frameworks while ensuring compliance with DoD security requirements.
Evaluate emerging technologies and develop innovative technical solutions that improve mission performance, resiliency, scalability, and lifecycle cost efficiency while reducing technical risk.
Lead technical solutioning for strategic captures and proposals, developing solution architectures, technical approaches and discriminators, BOEs, staffing strategies, implementation roadmaps, and technical volumes.
Partner with capture, pricing, program, and engineering leadership to develop competitive and executable solutions and support customer briefings, technical interchange meetings, solution reviews, and executive proposal reviews.
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior government and industry stakeholders, including organizations across the U.S. Space Force, SDA, MDA, Army, DISA, NSA, Intelligence Community, and Combatant Commands.
Required Qualifications
The individual selected for this position should possess a broad technical background spanning enterprise IT, systems engineering, secure communications, cloud technologies, satellite communications, and government infrastructure modernization. The ability to communicate highly technical concepts to executive leadership, customers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams is essential.
Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI (current TS/SCI preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM discipline
20+ years of progressive engineering, systems engineering, and solutions architecture experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community customers
Demonstrated expertise in designing and architecting enterprise IT solutions supporting large-scale government programs
Demonstrated experience leading systems engineering efforts involving requirements analysis, architecture development, systems integration, testing, and operational transition
Extensive experience modernizing enterprise IT infrastructure, secure communications networks, and legacy government systems
Proven experience applying Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SELC) methodologies from concept development through operations and sustainment
Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across geographically dispersed organizations
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience briefing senior government executives, General Officers, SES personnel, and corporate leadership
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, MBA, or related discipline
Experience serving as Associate Director and Ground Entry Point (GEP) Engineering Lead supporting next-generation military satellite constellations
Direct engineering leadership supporting: Ka-Band Ground Entry Points, S-Band antenna systems, Optical Ground Terminals (Laser Communications), RF engineering, Satellite communications, Ground segment architecture
Experience supporting Space Force, SDA, MDA, DISA, or Intelligence Community programs
Experience with Cloud technologies including Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud environments
Experience implementing Zero Trust Architecture and enterprise cybersecurity solutions
Working knowledge of NIST SP 800 series, RMF, ISO 27001, and DoD cybersecurity requirements
Experience with Agile development methodologies, DevSecOps, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Experience supporting Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), and Operational Readiness Reviews (ORR)
Experience with VMware, virtualization technologies, enterprise storage, routing and switching, and software-defined networking
Experience leading technical solution development for major competitive government proposals
Professional certifications such as CISSP, AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Architect, TOGAF, or equivalent technical certifications
